No more loyalty discounts on EE/orange/T mobile?!

Same happened with my dad and t-mobile, and he has been with them since one 2 one on his recent upgrade he was just quoted prices online and it was just bad for someone whos been with them for 10years + and had a few lines.

Huawei gear is so cheap though, can't believe they arn't used by all networks tbh, the gap is huge. Anyway, there is a discount still as I got one recently but I imagine it's related to use - maybe they dropped the bottom tier or something.

Anyone remember that SMS shortcode you can query to check your band? Phones4U use it IIRC

I wonder if they will honor the old F&F Discount (the one for life) if you change to EE from T-Mobile.... I guess I will find out come upgrade time when I phone them.

If not, I wonder if they will do it if/when they shut down T-Mob/Orange and move everyone to EE or whether they will remove this discount.... Bit crap if they do considering it was promised for life.

No such thing as f&f for life they can be removed at any time and are a perk and not part of your contract. Orange will not be shut down the tri brand will be around for a long time and yes you can migrate your f&f subejct to a few new t&c :D

A lot of networks are now using Huawei gear which isn't as cheap as it used to be since they were forced to design their own kit rather than reverse engineer other manufacturer's products.

Probably 15-20% cheaper than the same box from Nokia or Ericsson. So still £20-30 billion to roll out urban/suburban LTE coverage across the UK.

Panic over. The retentions team called me and started offering discounts; the normal upgrade team can't do this on a move from orange to ee.

Moral of the story- always get a PAC code before upgrading.

You have a source for this?

Edit: This is so I don't look like a fud when I phone them if they try and remove it, not to attack your post.

He works there, this was also the deal when I worked there before I defected. Huawei gear is still cheaper in the dealings I've had with them Terminal (mostly IMS related I admit rather than switching), E/// can shove their quotes up their behind though, I don't think they want to work with me anymore.

I'm on F&F for life (ex employee) ... the newer F&F or whatever it's called terminates when the employee you got it from leaves the company, just happened to my mate. If you transfer F&F to EE, it's only a 40% discount instead of the 50% on TMUK.

I went from T-Mob to EE just recently. They didn't move my F&F across and I had to call up to get it sorted.

Mine is the old F&F 4Life.

I heard that the T-Mob discount is going down to 30% this year - is this true?

i went to the EE website to see my upgrade options for the note3 and they want me to pay 130 quid for the phone plus pay around 40 quid a month for 2 years lol **** off.

i could buy the note 3 sim free and get a cheap £10-£15 sim only and tell EE to go fly and will work out MUCH cheaper

All the networks use the same standard formula which comes to a shock for many still.

Does the customer still turn us a profit after overheads are paid & they get the phone they want? YES= keep them NO= let the go giff gaff

Has nothing to do with get a pac code etc :)

But it was only after I had asked for a PAC code (I suppose saying that you wanted to cancel at the end of term is equally viable) that I was contacted by the team who could offer me a discount. The upgrade team who you are put through to on "150" could only offer the deals available to new customers.

Right, because a lot of people will accept that offer and then the telco won't need to offer any more than that to keep your custom.

So just had an online convo with EE as I am thinking of upgrading (not sure if I will yet).

I have been on the old F&F discount with T-Mobile since 2000. This is the one that you retain even after the person that applied the discount leaves the company. The one from about 2006 onwards meant that it was removed when the employee left.

info: Thank you for choosing EE. An EE Adviser will be with you shortly.
info: You are now connected with Rebecca.

Rebecca: Hi, you're chatting with Rebecca at EE, officially the UK’s best network. Apologies for the wait, we are particularly busy today. How are you?

Richard: Good thanks, you?

Rebecca: I'm great thank you.

Rebecca: how can I help?

Richard: I am got the old style F&F discount in 2002 (50% off for life). If I upgrade to EE, do I get to keep this?

Rebecca: on EE, you'll get 40% discount, if you stay on tmobile and upgrade it will reduce to 30% discount

Richard: If I dont' upgrade (buy a phone sim free), will the 50% stay or is this going to eventually be reduced to 30% anyway?

Rebecca: if you dont upgrade and leave your account as it is now it will stay 50%

Richard: ta.... one final one....

Richard: on some of your tarrifs, you get calls and texts in EU countries within yor allowance. Is EE planning to allow data usage within allowance in some coutries much like T-Mob USA and Three UK do?

Rebecca: not at the moment

So it seems if you upgrade then your discount will be reduced (down to 40% if you go EE and 30% if you stay T-Mob). If you dont upgrade then your discount remains at 50%.

Lastly - on the last question, can any employee (BigBruiserAl) let us know if EE are planning on data allowance usage in the countires they allow calls/sms allowance usage?

They can give you pretty much anything if you nag them enough.

I got 5GB free data the other day just for complaining about the signal a bit :p

So my contract is now unlimited mins/texts and 6GB 4G data for £24 a month, my S4 was free when I got it too! :)

By the end of next year, roaming in the EU will become a thing of the past anyway, as extra charges will be made illegal. So it's only non-EU countries you need to worry about really.
