So.. these newish 09/10 colt ralliart editions seem cheap 5k is on 30k miles or so. 1.5 with 150bhp tunable to 180 quite reliably. Looks like small time half frugal half fun and in distinctively bland enough to avoid idiots scratching it etc

Anyone tried one yet?

Didn't get on with it.

Odd driving position, pretty horrid inside even for the class and I found it incredibly numb ( again even for a new car)

The little swift is far better despite the power differential

Driven it? Doesn't really feel slow tbh

If it was just for the power the raliart lancer is much better, probably well out of that price bracket though

Not driven either. Mostly thinking celica t sport at this moment but looking at weird and wonderful options . Only do 8 miles a day in a return journey but something small and fun could be good.

Swift would be vastly better for that journey ( of the two hatches). Your budget seems excessive for a Celica though? Decent enough car mind you

Mk3 mr2 and a 2zz conversion? Probably 4k all in

Is the 2zz the 190 VVTL-i engine?

£4k for the car, the engine, and all fabrication and fitting?

If so, thats seriously interesting....

Yeah 2zz is the 190

1-1.5k for a mk3 with a blown engine,

1k for a 2zz

Rest for someone who knows what they're doing to install it and oddball bits and pieces.

Every now and then one already built comes up, ted to sell for a fair bit less than the conversion cost

Given my last car wasman mr2 and the one before a corolla t sport it's like compressing the two into one. Possibly better off with a beams sw20. Not sure how my insurance would deal with an engine swap.

I mean im not limiting myself to super. Minis,

also got my eye on an Alfa 147 GTA for about 6 k the interior and seats look amaze. But then in that territory also comes the 350Z....

Looks a bit junky and a totally different proposition to a 147 GTA. Do you actually know what you want or are you just browsing Autotrader for random hatchbacks? I'm not sure how you'd ever end up looking at both a Colt and an Alfa 147 GTA unless thats what you were doing.

It's not quite as bad as considering a Ferrari F430 or a Ford Ka but it's a similar principle :p

I currently own a Celica T-Sport and used to own the Corolla, the Celica feels quicker and the gear box feels better and the handling is better, its a bit more fun to drive but the Corolla has a much nicer interior and feels more solid

I was looking at the Colts, I really like them but the dash and plastics are grim however if you can put up with an MR2's interior you should be happy with the Colt's, they are rare so no unwanted attention, the five door is even rarer and looks better than the 3 door, they seem quite well priced for their age too

I've never seen a 2ZZ MR2, bet they are fun
