i7 2600k 4.4ghz @1.28v

Hello running a new Overclock on my new Motherboard Asus P8z77 WS. First time I have done a Manual OC for the CPU on last board I could just select a profile.

Ok so I been stable at 4.4ghz @1.28v but I did have a random BSOD yesterday 0x124
Code list = 0x124 = add/remove vcore or QPI/VTT voltage (usually Vcore, once it was QPI/VTT)

So to make more stable I increased to 1.30v but PC wont boot at this? it will just restart and enter BIOS again. ??
Any idea why it will boot at 1.28v but not 1.30v

Apart from that odd BSOD the Overclock is very stable, been playing BF4 all day and no issue.

Too much of a V jump! try 1.285V or 1.29V Set LLC to level 5 and give a go.

124 can also be not enough cpu/vtt (or vccio/vccsa on asus)

so you need to try with that aswell as cpu v,it can be either of those two imo

and idk why it didn't boot with 1.3v,it shouldn't affect anything tbh

Yeah I find it strange that it won't boot with touch more voltage.
So far I still haven't BSOD with 1.28v just that once wouldn't mind I was only on the desktop, pc has been through much more demanding tasks.

I going to wait and see if I BSOD again before messing with it, I will try 1.29v If I do.

Ok it's just done the cold boot restart again. and when I looked at the board it was stuck on RAM led. Once it auto restarted it continued to boot as normal.

My RAM is OC to 1600mhz @1.57v and CPU is @1.29v @4.4ghz

Seems the RAM OC is failing and not the CPU. My RAM is rated 1.65v but I heard this is bad on sandy bridge? on my last board 1.57v was rock solid but I did use a auto profile on the CPU.

Maybe touch high on the RAM voltage.

Just bump it up to 1.6v it will be fine.

Ok I read it wrong because it was next to RAM I thought it was RAM LED. Its DIAG_CPU LED
When I power on this will stay lit and then restart, once restarted it will power on fine.

ram voltage and vccio/vccsa voltage will help with cold boots

vccio/vccsa whichever one is at 1.05v stock try with maybe 1.07v

Think that's done the job

I thought it was fixed yesterday, but this morning cold boot stuck on CPU. Done what you said and couple power off and on and its booting fine.

4.4GHZ @1.29v on scale 1-10 how good voltage this for this type of OC?

yh,im running 1.34v for 4.5ghz with 2600k so yours is fine id say average 5 out of 10

And it done it again lol Cold boot stuck on CPU it then will power off and auto start again.
Once it restart's it boots into windows fine and continues to work.

is they a setting I missing here?

Have you tried it at 1.1v

Also what voltage is your ram rated at? Do you get this problem when the Cpu is at stock?

Dont get this problem when CPU is stock, even if I just run RAM at its rated speed 1600mhz 9-9-9-27 the system boots fine. its voltage is rated for 1.65v Seems something I am doing wrong with just the CPU OC.

Try a touch more,max safe is 1.2v but you shouldnt need that much

Latest bios on the motherboard? Set the ram voltage to 1.65v VTT/VCCSA at 1.1, Cpu voltage at whatever you're running it at and the rest on auto for now and dial the overclock back to 4.2 and see how you go from there. So what you're saying is the system will not boot at anything over 1.28v?

Will try 1.1v VCCSA

It will boot but only after its shut itself down first and powers back on.
When I first power on the Motherboards has its own LEDS to check hardware, the CPU LED will stay lit and the system will shut down and power itself back on and continue like nothing has happened.

If the CPU is on stock it wont do this. Motherboard BIOS is latest. isn't 1.65v bad for sandy bridge I always thought it was bad.

If you're running the ram under it's recommended voltage then you're leaving yourself open to instabilities. It's about process of elimination.

1.65v is safe shanks. However you might be able to get away with 1.575v or 1.6v. To rule out problems though use 1.65v for now.

Try to disable PLL overvoltage as that sometimes causes these boards to do a double boot. You only need that at extreme overclocks anyway.

He's already tried at those voltages and still as the problem. I'm putting it down to running his ram too lean on volts. Sometimes you can get away with it but, sometimes you can't. As already stated 1.65v should be fine on SB as the max.
