Guys am thinking of maybe replacing my AV amp and one the main things am looking for is an AV amp that can display the volume adjustments on the TV screen..

Does anyone know of any AV amps that can do this ?

Any amp that supports HDMI ARC or HDMI CEC as long as TV does, my TV picks up any device plugged in as a Anytime+ (HDMI CEC) device and allows the TV remote to alter the volume on-screen, this is on a Samsung TV. Also works on my Soundbar which is cool.

"The power of ARC
ARC can simplify your home theater system in two important ways. The first, and perhaps most useful feature that ARC brings to the table is the aforementioned organization of CEC for single remote command.
The most common employment of single remote command would be for users who have supplemented the shameful audio of their flat screens with a sound bar, sound platform, HTIB, or other secondary audio device. As long as both devices are equipped with ARC, simply connecting the component to the TV’s ARC HDMI port will allow for control of power, volume, and other features from your TV remote. In most cases, it will also simply transfer your TV audio to the unit automatically, without having to deactivate the TV’s on-board speakers."

I think you would have to look at each model. There are plenty out there that support CEC or ARC but cant display any OSD overlay, older amps granted but that can apply equally to new entry level amps.

Can't help with your query, but am interested as to why you need the volume to be displayed on the screen? Surely you use your ears to determine what volume you need? What benefits does an on screen display bring?

I'd have thought any remotely recent model would. My 2010 Onkyo does.

Obviously you need to be using the HDMI output of the receiver for that to work, if it's being used passively (e.g. just for audio) then there'd be no signal coming from the unit for it to work.

Just want to ask. If you use ARC, can u show the volume level of the receiver or does it have to be the TV one? I ask because my TV volume level is useless as it doesn't show numbers, just a circular bar. Whereas the AV receiver has numbers.

I am referring to a non-HDMI source, i.e. just the standard TV free view.
