Hi,

I'm looking for ideas to keep my eyes open for.

It would be for slight gaming, 1080 tops, single monitor... But would like things looking as nice as possible!

Plenty of last gen/year stuff out there, I just know nothing about it!

I went for a GTX 670 a few week back for £130. Running everything I want at full res, AC Black Flag, Thief and Lords of Shadows 2 plays perfectly.
 
An ati 7850 which can be had fairly cheaply is a good 1080p card, its not going to max every game out but would deliver a reasonable performance.

Nvidia a 660/660ti/670 might be the way forward.

I picked up a 6850 from the clearance section for £50 the other day for nephew's birthday PC. Hardly cutting edge, but the card's perfect and will run anything he's going to be playing at decent quality/framerate on his 720p TV.
 
My parents got my old workstation rig with AMD Phenom II X6 [email protected], 8GB DDR2 800MHz and MSI GTX 660 TwinFrozr OC 2GB. When I visit them I often play Crysis 2 with Ultra Texture map and DX 11 at max setting in 1080 and it runs fluently for my taste.
 
I would have thought that while the 7950 is a good card they are probably hard to come by second hand at a good price due to mining.
