Off to vegas, must do things?

Unless you bring at least £500 to gamble away one night then you're not doing vegas right.

Go in with the intention of losing £500 and then walk out acting like it was nothing, probably crying on the inside a bit.

No one has mentioned old vegas....

Its a must...

I stayed 3 nights in vegas...then for 2 weeks drove to LA then San Fran then back to vegas and stayed on the old strip before I flew home

The gun store Going to do bullets and burgers bigger guns and a hoover damn trip and meal thrown in
Hoover dam - if you have time See above
Grand Canyon - Fly down there if you can, the bus drive is a bit of a nightmare A must.
Catch a show? Absinthe is supposed to be awesome
Roller coaster @ New York New York Staying at New York New York :)
Walk the strip from top to bottom Doing this.
Bellagio fountains A must see
Go up the Stratosphere Shall do this.
Las Vegas sign A must for pics.
Time your visit when the UFC is on - if you're into MMA there's always all sorts of things going on during the week No UFC on when i am there :(
Lots of betting YES
Lots of food YES
Lots of drinking YES

Freemont street and old vegas is a must for me as well.

I tend to stay down Fremont at weekends when all the LA ****ers hit town and spend the weekdays on the strip

I don't rate old town, the gambling isn't that much cheaper down there.

Gunstore is ace, I did the coalition package.
Absinthe is a must - very crass, lots of swearing, funny as hell and some of the stunts they do are crazy. It's Rocky Horror Show meets Cirque De Soleil
You won't be able to miss the Bellagio fountains.
Drinks aren't free if you're gambling, you still have to leave the waitresses a tip - a dollar will do you for whatever drink you want. Don't forget you can take your drink and move between casinos etc fine, you can drink on the street, Las Vegas just doesn't care! :)

:)

I find DT is $5 table minimums pretty much everywhere except for the Nugget

On the strip it's $10 and often more on weekends at nice places, only regular $5 games are Casino Royale and O'Sheas

I drove to Grand Canyon.

If you are there...don't...Spend the Bucks and fly into it in helicopter.

Only real mistake a I made when there...

Vegas can become tiresome very quickly get in...do loads of stuff then get out :p

If you like golf there are a couple of good golf courses close by, one designed by Jack Nicklaus and one by Tom Wisekopf. An expensive and frustrating (unless you are low single figure handicap) way to take time off from drinking and gambling. I also went quad biking in the desert, that was good fun.

you can generally only fly by helicopter to the west canyon (west rim) I don't think it's possible to the real grand canyon (south/north rim)

my missus did the skydive

oh and while I recommend going to the old town I really don't recommend walking it, some very dodgy areas on route

That's half the fun! It's a bit of a walk. About an hour. From the main strip, you walk up and see the Stratosphere Hotel/Casino. Go further up and you start seeing the cheap motels and the heap places to get married. Keep going and the Drug dealers, strip bars and Tattoo parlours start popping up. Even if it's just once, it's defo worth a walk.

I stayed in a cheap hostel next to old Vegas for a few days. Proper grimy. Walked to the main strip every day for a few days with no issues at all.

I saw Penn and Teller whilst in vegas, was great. They hang around outside after the show signing autographs etc

Hoover dam
Grand canyon (booked via viator, pickup drop off, private plane tour etc was good).
Spent most of the day walking between casinos and bars, only gambling i did was the odd slot machine hah.
Bought a couple leathermans from the bass pro shop at silverton casino
Sirens show was quite cool, at treasure island
Volcano at the mirage was also cool.

Annoyingly i ran out of time for gun shooting etc. Will have to go again.
