More reasons to shop at Morrisons...

No it isn't, there's a postcode checker. Morrisons say 50% coverage by mid 2015, terrible.

I think it's because they don't (or at least, didn't) have a normal system like the rest do that monitors inventory and orders in accordance with sales/stock levels. Whenever I was in Morrisons you'd see them wandering around with a ring binder, checking stock levels on shelves and writing stuff down so presumably it was still done manually.

Even I didn't realise it was that bad!

It was a inside job yes more than likley someone not happy with the profit share this year :) The deal with ocado is good morrisons purchased the Dordan site of ocado for 221mill and are leasing it back to them to run it.

For a company of this size, I am very surprised this has even happened in the first place.

It always happens with the big companies, they cut costs and cut costs and cut costs in order to report "increasing profits" to their shareholders without having to do any actual work.

In reality there is so much falling through the cracks of a company like that it's unreal, they probably had an old broomstick with a hat and moustache in charge of their data security. Or they did until the broomstick quit and they hired the mop. Or worse, outsourced it to india.

Morrisons employee data theft

Anyone else been affected by this?

My girlfriend has had a letter this morning saying her bank account no, sort code, mobile phone number and our home address and home phone number were stolen as a result of this. She is going to the bank this morning to close the affected account to be on the safe side. Any other advice on steps we can take to minimise any future problems from this?

The first employees were told about this was apparently through facebook. As my girlfriend was on holiday last week she found out through bumping into a colleague in town otherwise she'd have known nothing until this mornings letter. Word is that management knew about it the day before but did not pass on the information (prob just a rumour but you never know). Either way, pretty poor from Morrisons.

Funny thing is, we haven't had any cold calls/phishing type phone calls on our home phone before (we haven't been in the house long and it is a new ex-directory number) until last Friday when she got a call from 'Microsoft as my PC was infected'. Coincidence or...?

The information about the hack was sent in an email during the night of Thursday/Friday morning to all stores and various other departments within the company. ALL staff from top to bottom so to speak that was in on Friday was told about this. The only staff that could have been notified after the hack would have been the night shifts but considering all night staff are on shop floor and never go into the offices of the store they work at they wouldn't know until the morning when Admin staff started and the senior management team arrived.

My store dealt with this very well and staff that was not in on Friday were called/left answering machine message/text message to call work and I presume Facebook message were sent out to those who did not reply/answer.

It was handled very well here. We was all kept uptodate with what was going on. We had 3 meetings Friday as info was sent down. Saturday there was 2 other meetings too. I think Morrisons has handled this well. Anyone effected by this will NOT be in any financial difficulty what so ever.

Sorry yes i meant wouldn't

I have trouble with +/- inflections sometimes if i write too fast

So you meant "a company wouldn't be stupid enough to leave payroll data on a server outside of a DMZ, right?....RIght?"

Well if it's outside of a DMZ then that's not stupid at all. I don't think you know what a DMZ is.

That wouldn't be my major concern once someone has all those details to be honest, there's basically enough there to become you.

I know what you mean but I was saying if any money was taken if possible then M will give it back to your account right away providing you have proof. Furthermore M have got security cover from experian people for 18 months to cover all staff whos details have been leaked.

Hated them since they took over my beloved Safeways. My local one is probably the worst supermarket shopping experience for years, utter shambles. Everything about them is so budget.
