i thought it was a different forum but its not lol but alas a new thread!!

i have £330 quid and am happy to put a bit more to it and go to a max of lets say 400 if need be.

Whats your thoughts guys?

hopefully i can have the stable machine (that i have with my 5850 back in it)

+1

If you must go Nvidia then this is not a bad price for a 780, but its still poor value compared to AIB custom cooled 290's.

why do i get the feeling i am sensing a wrong move here?

what are you saying?

O this is so difficult lol

i just dont want to make another wrong turn?

I can't see better than an R9 290 at that price honestly.
It's not ATI ;)

Lol.

There's no wrong turn. If you're not worried about spending the extra then go with the 780. I was just agreeing with Martini. The cards are very similar performance wise, the only real difference is the price. You can't go wrong with either card.

and does the TI make much difference?

Yes, but the price difference is way out there.

The 780Ti (Titan black too) IMO, is the fastest current single GPU (Although it lacks True audio (Not that it matters right now) and Mantle (Which does matter))

The R9 290X is a very close second (780Ti and R9 290X do trade a lot of blows), with the 780/R9 290 trading blows for third.

Any 780 and you will be fine. :)

Yes it does, but you'll also pay for it. But it doesnt lack physx, cuda, 3dvision, gsync, shadowplay etc. You could take the dole queue option and go for an AMD card, which has mantle in one game to offer.
But the Nvidia card on its own DOES lacks 3D Vision and Gsync too :p

You forgotten the disclaimer of "kits/hardware for 3D Vision and Gsync are sold separately" :D

OP did ask for Nvidia going by title and he means AMD/ATI.

Add another 1GHZ to that CPU which easy to do and mantle will not matter.

I had 5GHz on air on same CPU, 4.5GHZ is easy and on water and all 2700k's should be good over more random 2600k's.

2nd hand 780 at least but there are a few new here starting at £350ish

You do understand the bottleneck under DirectX isn't the cpu but is the api in this case DirectX. So it don't matter what you do to the cpu you will always be bittlenecked . :D

Keep telling yourself that, mantle does next to nothing for a high end CPU+decent OC.

I understand enough and no need to spam mantle in every thread, it will never take off the way you hope/think it will so understand that.

It's more suited to APU's and CPU's with lower clocks.

The OP asked for non ATI (AMD) card so give him that info.

Do not come back with more mantle crap to derail the OP's thread as I will not be reading or replying to it.
