Is there any reason why your only considering a 290x reference at £400 and a £620 aftermarket 780Ti?
You can get this Sapphire TRI X 290 card for £320. That will be as fast as a 290X (if you overclock it to 1050/1250 - which it will do easily) and comes with the best air cooler out there in the 290 range.

If I go with the GTX 780Ti iChill , would I be able to SLI them with a 1000w power supply and a Maximus hero mobo?
Or would I not have enough space/power

Maybe I will crossfire 2x Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X will cost a lot less imo would that be a fairly future proof idea and just start with one?
