290x or GTX 780ti

I say wait for desktop 800 series and Nvidia will take top spot easily...

but if regarding 290x and 780ti - 780ti is the better card overall but more expensive...

AMD tend to be lacking in efficiency which is why they are behind intel on CPU's as well...

With GFX they are close but only because they are playing the same game they are doing with their CPU's - selling them cheaper...

Nividia are doing the same thing intel is doing which is selling a better product (sometimes marginally better) more expensive simply because they can and know they are ahead...

The 750 series is a quick look at how the 800 series could shape up...seeing as the 750ti is better than a gtx 480 and 650 ti boost...

So if you really want to get the top of the range now and not wait a couple to a few months for the next gen then it depends on how much do you want to spend to get the best you can get for the money...

i think its more about which features u like best
if you like nvidia's future promises buy them, if amd's buy theirs
i dont think its fair to say only reason to buy amd is value for money

if playing at 1080p i dont think there's any noticable difference
if going 1440p or 3 screens etc i dont think any 1 card is enough anyway

i think the iChill looks cool! :) i like the white led on side them

If I go with the GTX 780Ti iChill , would I be able to SLI them with a 1000w power supply and a Maximus hero mobo?

Or would I not have enough space/power

If you are thinking about SLI go for a reference 780Ti as they dump the heat out the back of your case.

Yes a 1000w PSU will run two 780ti's in SLI.

Maybe I will crossfire 2x Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X will cost a lot less imo would that be a fairly future proof idea and just start with one?

Thing is it is yellow !¬! :(

If you have good spacing between the cards you'll be fine. If they're pushed up right next to each other then you'll be better off with reference cards.

yeh unless you have crazy good cooling you wont be able to OC so hard with crossfire

i think tri-x is the only 290 to do it with tho
mine sits around 80c with 40% fan which is easy as quiet as the msi, thats overclocked too

thats on par with 780 clasi i had in there b4, atleast not far off

i think it will depend on your case but even not overclocked 2x290 is a lot of gfx power :o

maybe if you silly like me and have small case with window it not for you :)
