Hopefully this will all get sorted but seems my account was nicked. Somebody somewhere took 5 payments of 69.99 from my credit card between 6:30 and 9:30 this morning for something called Chest of Gems (Clash of Clans).

Not nice, credit card company said I had to contact google, google said I had to contact the credit card company.

It looks like the only had my gmail details not the actual payment details as soon as I changed my password the payments stopped going out. After finding somebody to speak to at google (not an easy task) it looks like they will investigate.

Pretty miffed especially with the credit card company. Lesson to self : never leave credit card details online again.

This is why always try not to store my card details online.

Only place that stores my card details is amazon and paypal.

If you "dispute" the payments with the bank that should be enough, i think. They will investigate for fraud and usually you get the money back.

FYI, don't be messed around by the CC company. The transactions are fraudulent and they must refund you under the Consumer Credit Act.

Is it possible you sleepwalk and suddenly had a desire to progress at an alarming rate through Clash of Clans?

When my Nexus tab was stolen from my house earlier this year I **** myself because all my details were on my Google play account. Change my passwords immediately and took my payment details off. I feel bad for you OP, its a shame it takes something like this to get people like me and you, who probably should know better, to take security more seriously.

I hope you get your cash returned mate.

Tell the CC Company to stop ****ing you around and to refund you immediately. It's a good job you had your CC on there and not a debit card.

Well I have two step verification now. I never wanted to do it as I didn't want Google to know my phone number! In hindsight as soon as I logged onto my phone they new my phone number anyway. Silly me.

I'll give google a couple of days to sort it, if they don't I'll get back on the credit card company and log it as fraud.

Just irritating to be honest as as soon as I get the 2nd email telling me someone had bought something, I called my credit card company and said it looks like someone is taking 69.99 every 30 minutes from my account - and they seemed oblivious to the issue. Saying the only way they could stop it was by closing my account, to which I pointed out - how was I supposed to get a refund if my account was closed!

Doesn't sound like a Barclays kind of response so must be another company? Activity like that they're quick to phone you and ask to confirm it was you.

Anyway, what's wrong with Google knowing your mobile? You're not gonna get it sold on to 3rd parties or something dodgy like that.

Google intercepted the hacking of my google apps account last week. Locked out my account. The hackers tried to use my wallet to pay for bloody game tokens too, like 250quids worth, which google stopped and blocked.

It's Natwest. I was suprised that they didn't log the activity as suspicious as well. Who makes 5 payments every 30 minutes.

Unique password, 2 step verification and require password on every purchase. Sleep easy at night.
