Hi!

For a while now one of my fans has been really noisy for about 80% of its fan cycle it makes a horrid noise, I think the bearing is on its way out.

Tested all of my fans and couldn't find it (because it does it about 30mins + into the time the pc has been turned on, just now my dog bumped into my case and it stopped... if i press my hand against the front bottom of the case the noise stops....

It is this case

How do I get to this fan? Can I get to it from the front and simply unplug/snip the wire for now? I don't have time to strip my case down due to working all the time (like now for instance) due to the amount of hardware crammed in the case (5 HDD's for example).

Also for a longer term solution what can I replace these front fans with? I want something silent and don't care if they light up or not as I have that turned off all the time... They are on molex adaptors and have to run at full speed because of this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok popped off front cover left it popped off very slightly at the bottom and seems to have fixed it - dust filter full of dust so cleaned that as much as you can with a feather duster at 1am on a weeknight... lol Noise seems to have vanished for now...

Good to hear you got it sorted, dust really is our enemy when it comes to quiet and powerful rigs.

Assuming it's pretty much the same as the 500R I have:
Place your hand underneath, right at the front. There will be a slight indent that you can get a handhold on. Pull firmly and the front panel will pop off (6 barbs hold it on).
From here, use an air duster and a thin, soft paintbrush to get out all the dust you can. Only takes a couple of minutes.

Check also that the fan screws are tight and there's no play in their frames.

Replacements - You'll want a pair of fans with high static pressure, as they're ramming air through the HDD cages. I'm looking at the same thing myself and the two most consistently recommended so far have been the Noctua range and the Corsair SP range (especially the Quiet Edition ones).

Will these fit? I am a bit concerned re: the wiring, if they are compatible? I might just unplug both of them tbh.

You want the SP120 if they are going in the front of the case with airflow restrictions.
Do you have a PWM fan header (4 pin) on your motherboard that you can plug into ?

I have the Akasa fans in the front of my case and they are very good, although most people swear by the Corsair's.

If you only have a 3 pin header then you can get non pwm fans and a 7V reducer cable so that they don't run at full speed.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Corsair Fan, SP120 PWM Low Noise High Pressure Fan 4 pin, Dual Pack (CO-9050012-WW) £25
1 x Akasa 120mm Piranha high performance PWM air ripper blade fan £13.99
Total : £41.27 (includes shipping : £1.90).

Depending on what fans you get you can either use a pwm fan splitter cable, or a 7V cable for 3 pin fans

YOUR BASKET
1 x BitFenix Alchemy Molex to 3pin x3 Fan adaptor 7V 20cm - Black £4.99
1 x Akasa PWM fan splitter (AK-CBFA04-15) £2.99
Total : £10.96 (includes shipping : £2.48).

You can only use the included case fans with the inbuilt fan controller and wiring.
The included fans are crap anyway tbh. All they're good for is the lighting.
