So Broadwell -E chips will slot into the upcoming X99 motherboards that support Haswell -E?

Happy days if this is true, that's my system for the next couple years sorted. Gigabyte X99 + 5820K 6 core this year and then 8 core Broadwell -E next year.

Does seem to follow on from the kitguru leak saying about how intel want to shack up the desktop market over the next few years.

Im all for shacking up the market and giving developers a kick to start utilizing the technology.

As you say a nice haswell-e this year and broadwell-e next year.

So yet another socket change, and new board required.Damn, but good job I didn't go for the X79 as I would have been upset. Otherwise it is looking good for upgrades to broadwell later on.

X79 launched in 2011, it's had a very good run. Looks like X99 will have fairly long legs as well. I'm def going X99. No interest in Mainstream Broadwell or Skylake.

X99 + 5820K + DDR4, yes plz !

I'm going to go Haswell-E I think, especially after this leak, saves a motherboard change for Boardwell-E.

When is this due roughly?

Will it be a nice upgrade frrom my 2500k at 4.5Ghz?

5820K looks a good shout. Will its release co-inside with a GTX880 release I wonder?

Some are saying June, no solid info yet though. Apparently Intel have a renewed focus on desktops so want to push this out as early as possible.

I think Haswell -E / X99 makes the most sense out of other upcoming Intel stuff, as desktop Broadwell / Skylake will be about integrated graphics and low power. If X99 can support Broadwell -E chips it's def my next socket. I want raw CPU power and 20nm GPU's :p

Gonna go with the 5820K as well, yes would be a nice upgrade from the 2500K, about 10% - 15% more IPC plus 2 extra cores.

Judging by intels past performance, it probably won't overclock as well so that IPC gain will even out.

DDR4 = top end current DDR3 tbh. We won't see no benefits other than lower power useage until it develops later.

It'll be much better than a 2500K :p

X99 will be good for a few years, like you say ram speeds will increase. By the time Broadwell -E is launched maybe 2400mhz will be default supported speed. Tbh low power usage 2133mhz sounds ideal to me.

Looking forward to putting this monster together.

Sounds like a plan to me ;)

So glad I didn't buy a 4770K now, but I seriously need to upgrade so they better hurry up and release these damn things! :D
