Arma 3: Altis Life

Don't worry about that, at this time there are no benefits for Donators, couse we are working on it and we r using "Donators places" only for test new things. In the future, I believe that if there is an advantage in being a donor, you will only have the best prices and the most accessible, or maybe the chance to take vehicles with different textures than the basic.
and I think it's the best solution, because it is right that donors have some advantage, but I believe that it should not be detrimental to other players who are not donors

It's not the best solution, I disagree.

The best solution is to let donators donate if they wish, but only to support costs of running etc (True donators that want to see the server continue).

With the current setup you have (and many other Life servers have), it encourages people to "buy" perks, they wouldn't donate otherwise, and anyone who thinks they would are very naive.

You talk of having "the best prices and the most accessible" (I presume guns & vehicles etc), yet then say it is not detrimental, Ofcourse it is. If I start and have to walk 1000m to get a gun, and the donator only has to walk 10m, there is your detrimental effect, he has an advantage because of his "donation".

no dude, donatros will have the same things of the other players, but with different prices. and maybe different texture...but not better guns or else
 
You are not understanding me, It doesn't matter what I give as an example...

Ok you say they will have different prices.

I start with lets say 50k, I buy a car for 10k and have 40k left to buy a gun.

Donator starts with 50k too, buys a car for his "special" price of 5k, has _45k_ left to buy a gun...

You see now? Still an _unfair_ advantage. Not everyone has the ability or capability to donate, so everyone should be equal, donator or not.
 
I understand but you're talking as if there were a lot of donors, and it is not. plus a donor is a person who pays real money, and for what I think it is right to give him something in return. and in any case the price difference will not be so excessive, it will be advantageous but not too much. In any case, I do not think that this is to create problems on the server. especially considering that this server make money, and then you can have a "fund in the bank" considerable, is not difficult. In our server, the trunk is bigger, and it is a big advantage. Closing the speech, I've never heard anyone complain about this trifle, maybe it happens, but on this server is not a problem. We try to make it more realistic as possible. And as in real life there are people who, thanks to their knowledge, get discounts, we apply the same thing with donors.
However, nothing prevents us in the future to disable this feature in the game.

I'm calling it now that donator "perks" will ruin this mission (not that it can get any worse ;)).

Eventually there will be only a handful of servers that offer everything to everyone. Servers which try and make players actually do something or work for their gear will soon find a dwindling player base while the dross flood into the servers that hand them a Kajman and an A-164 for simply figuring out how to press the connect button.

like i sad, on this server u don't get nothing more then the other players. Maybe and i sad Maybe, only what i sad^^.
For what I think, you want something? work and deserve it. like i sad we want to make it as realistic as possible.there will always be someone who has something to say, but perfection does not exist, then we simply do everything in our power to make this server fun and enjoyable for all
 
Trust me, the majority of life players do not want to work for anything and making it "realistic" will only result in a low pop server.

My name is RaHoll and i am the owner of BTD server. RocknRolla is my friend, one of first donators, and he is only trying to get some people to play on our server. I know him via Arma, he is one of my new friends, which i know only because i started an Arma server. He does not care of donations, he wants to have some fun again, because the more ppl, the more fun there is. Please stop writing that he is here to earn money on donations, because that is not truth! He is not owner, he is donor and player.
LONG VERSION:
People like ~>Dg<~ make us believe everybody is just the same, and that i am just another guy who wants to grab some quick cash on donations. Opposite is truth. I am running very fast server for free for quite a long time now (24/7 since 11/2013), i was playing with arma (with its codes) and having fun (coding is fun, i am coder), meanwhile people were comming and playing it.

Donator shop was always there on the map, but i was only using it for DEV purposes, and the only donator in game was me. Some players were constantly asking me for donator shop access. I always explained, that there is not much to see, and that there are only items/vehicles i am testing for future updates.

After some weeks and more explanations about real donator shops usage on my server (which was for DEV purposes), i have decided to let people donate if they want. I said myself WHY NOT? I am paying 130EUR for electric energy every month, and i have assigned 12 core Intel with OCZ Revodrive and dedicated Intel SSD and 24GB of ram for this arma server. Why? I was wondering if performance issues and desync is really just an Arma problem, or if really strong server could make it go smooth. After i have received 65 EUR in donations, i used 67 EUR to pay for enjin website, so that my donors (and admins) are now able to setup website, and add content. Domain is registered with no-ip org, including DNS services, which is 34 EUR per year. Conclusion is that my income from arma is at the moment cca minus 36 EUR in real cash. And i am not counting electric fees and the time invested into this, which is also not free. Did i even mention 250Mbit upload/download optic fiber line for this server, which is 32 EUR per month? You now see that i am not going to be rich on this server lol?

And yeah, Traffic_Warden, so i have allowed the people to donate. And what is this discussion about? If i remove donator shop will this bring us more ppl now? I dont think so... Or what is the point of your neverending and continuous offense against RocknRolla adn our server? There is 2776 players in our database, from which at least 50% were able to play game with success, without donating a single cent. Its like you are crying that you must be donator to be able to play the game, else you will start with big disadvantages. But its not truth at all, the advantages are almost none. You described situation where you buy car for $5000 instead of $10000, but LOL, normal cars are sold near spawn, and donor shop is kilometers away. Its just not like you describe it. You make very theoretical situations here which are not replicable in real gameplay.

We came here to let ppl know that this server is still up and we are still working on it. Some ppl were no table to find us, because the server name changed like 4 times. Only recently i have assigned a domain www.betterthandead.net for this „project“, so we want ppl to come back and see. Problem is that there are 1875 servers up and it is problem to filter spam against some real work. Also the filter is not working correctly, thats how we lost people (you were no longer able to find our server with „TB“, so we changed the name).

Many people just download Altis Life and run in on their server. Some people do minor changes at least. But this is NOT our case. I am changing everything one after another. I was changing what i did not like on other servers or in base mod. So i have changed the spawn system, so you do not choose location when you login back, but you are on your last spawn place. I have changed/fixed keychain so that you receive your keys when you login back to the server. Then i have changed the trunks size, because I did not like the size of trunks in comparison to backpacks size. Then i was working quite long time to get statistics working, which was fail. I want to have complete statistics of all user actions on the website, so one can compare his own stats to other players. This is not yet ingame, only basic statistics are on website now. Now i am focused for missions (similar to what has been seen on wasteland servers) which will hopefully add some more gameplay to my server. We have added gold ore and 5 types of pure gold recently (18 – 24 carat). That is only preparation for the change of bank robbery (where you will be able to steal gold from safe, instead of weird ammount of money). And this gold is supposed to be used in missions as part of reward too.
Question is if you want to discuss future of the server, or you only want to say to ppl to NOT JOIN our server because there is some rule or something. Before even talking to ppl who takes the care of the server and before checking the contents of the server.

I know there will always be people like you Traffic_Warden. I belive you are not bad guy, you are only unhappy with 99% of other servers or server owners, and you do not realize not everybody is the same. Or you are maybe owner of other server and trying to not lose your donors? I dont know and i dont care.

If you want to play with us, you are welcome. And if you do not want to play with us, please stop spamming our forum thread with reasons why you will not play this and what else you wil play instead. You think you are helping someone? You think you save somebody if you prevent him from playing my server? Ohh noes, you saved them from serious brain damage! And also a possibility to get new friends.

If you can see problems in rules or elsewhere on the server, we are here to listen to constructive critics. Many things which are on the server are there because players were asking for it. But if you want to discuss rules or gameplay, you have to be player of the server first lol. Rules are related only to players, not to someone who is going to play san andreas. You may come to server and talk to us in chat, or you may come to TS. You may bring your friends and create strong gang to rule the server and make us cry... It‘s up on you. All i wanna do, is have some fun, and i got the feeling i am not the only one. Thats all. Cheers :)
