I do like my s4 but i'd have probably gone for the n5 if google had actually bothered to stock it when I was buying. Screen, battery and camera are probably better on the s4 but there are still lots of reasons to choose the n5. Pure android os with no touchwiz and samsung bloatware being the main ones.

Googles lack of willing to fix the camera audio issues worry me! I have a feeling its something that can't be fixed. Otherwise - surely they would have done it by now!

I do believe though, everyone in here now has said nexus 5. So that'll be that then

I've told her to order whichever one she wants online, at least if she doesn't like it she can DSR it then.

Have you considered the LG G2? It's currently available on Amazon for £299 and is barely any bigger than the s4 and Nexus 5. Better camera, battery life and screen than the other two in my opinion. I'm a nexus 5 owner but a family member has a G2 and I'm very impressed with it. The skin they have put on android is pretty ugly but nova soon sorts that out

If it has to be between the s4 or N5 then I'd obviously choose the n5

So you're headed for the S4? Just remember as standard the s4 has very little of its 16gb free!

Most likely. I have a 16GB S3 at the moment, but with extra memory that I can't live without.

32GB nexus 5 not enough?

Don't think I'm preaching, the SD card slot in the note 3 is lovely

I felt very restricted by my iphones fixed storage and found it incredibly frustrating running out of space!

However, the S4 only essentially has 8gb or so for apps, if that's enough for you then so be it, but I personally would need and went for more!

So... I went against my own opinion and now I'm currently posting this from my Nexus 5.

I figured I have all of my music on every other device, so I'm sure I can live without a few thousand extra songs on my phone. I'll just have to cut down on taking too many photos too.

She went for the Samsung.... why I don't know but that's that! Can anyone suggest a case that is slim but still offers protection? Its her birthday so as well as a dunce hat - I want to buy her a case!

She loves the gimmicky camera stuff too much for me to flash that for her! I just found a spigen hybrid case on amazon that looks pretty nice though I'm not sure how much protection it offers! A pouch is possibly better to protect it from all her trowels and pollyfiller in her handbag in all honesty!"
