Inside Rolls-Royce

Shame they put footballer and lotto winner on - Debased RR really-

Said to wife if we come up with that sort of money I wouldn't buy one - I would like to hire one just to see but I think a Lexus 400 is more my style.

Dave

Well they're not going to sell 3600 a year of them by refusing to sell to the "undeserving" or those with horrible taste.

10 cars a day :O

Felt so sorry for the goldsmith after that crack appeared!

The third time he submitted that panel you could almost see his heart pounding, i thought if they reject it again we may well see a grown man cry. :p

have to say I love their attitude- theres no room for inferior parts going out the door.

if more companies put this attitude in place they would go places

Years back, when everything was still hand made, I was lucky enough to get a personal guided tour of the Aston Martin factory at Newport Pagnell. Was an amazing experience - similar to this, the attention to detail was unbelievable.

Stuff like the paint inspection room being a full cylinder of neon lights, with just two rails for the car tyres to roll in on, and a gangway for the QC guy.

And the leather - took 7 cows per car for all the interior. But they used 10, all dyed together, and put 3 in storage indefinitely for the car so that if they ever damaged the interior, they could get a replacement hide with a perfect colour match.

I have actually been in RR, it was an amazing experience. I was down their working in RR and saw cars for both Rowan Atkinson (who patented his own colour for his RR) and Sylvester Stallone who, and I really kid you not has SS embroidered in the seats of his Rolls....

I can't really think of a better car for long distance than an RR Phantom Coupe.

Not a big fan of the way the roof bends on the new Wraith... makes it look...ugly.

Not much. RR really do build cars to that quality.

The problem with the view that if every company had this attitude it means sacrificing profits for quality, which is good to a point but it is very hard to stay profitable doing this. RR is owned by BMW which is the only reason they can afford to. It is like Bugatti who have the same ethics, and they lose money on every Veyron sold! But they are floated by VW/Audi/Lamborghini/Seat so cashflow is no issue.

Yeh it was kinda hard to see how they could possibly make money given not only the level of quality control applied to those trim items but also the lavish spreads they put on for prospective customers and journos in Prague!

Actually thinking about it now those diamond inset trim pieces were for a one off vehicle so I would imagine that they are slightly more pragmatic when it comes to 'run of the mill' production cars...maybe?!

In a way I kind of hope not should I ever be in a position to purchase one :D

Just finished watching this, truly amazing!

That guy who owns 62x cars though... "Oh, I want to pull up next to the next RR and know that mine is better". What a knobber
