New keyboard

What's your budget? Is it solely for gaming or are you typing/coding too?

Any features required? Backlight? Media keys etc...

Haha, worth doing a bit of reading first tbh. There is a good mechanical keyboard thread at the top of this forum, and another decent guide here.

I've been using one for about a year now and would never go back to a membrane keyboard, just FWIW.

I guess if you're playing WoW you could use some extra macro keys? I'd suggest the brown switches are probably the best "middle ground" type between gaming and typing, so lets look for one of those.

Seen a couple of folk on here give good feedback on the Gigabyte Osmium board. Looks pretty badass too. Personally, I like my boards to look a bit more plain, so if you wanted to go down that route you could try something like this.

Sorry to jump in but thanks for that guide, been lusting over a mechanical keyboard for a while now

No problem! It has pretty much everything you could ever need to know about mechanical boards in it. Helped me decide on mine!

Blues have a areal 'clicking' sound to them - sample.

Reds require a really low amount of pressure to actuate them, I made a lot of errors (still do) when typing on it when I first got it, but got used to it within a couple of weeks. I prefer the sound of the reds too, doesn't make any noise until you bottom out. - sample.
