Titanfall (Respawn Entertainment's new IP)

Let's hope the kick gets the nerf hammer next. A lock on, one hit kill melee attack is bad enough, but one that can be performed while you're being drilled with bullets, and repeatedly over and over, is nuts. Yesterday a guy was camping in the corner of a hard point room - I ran in, he missed with his shotgun, I spin round and unload an smg at point blank range taking him down to 2% hp, yet his kick still one shots me. The whole encounter took just over a second. Successful bullet hits should interrupt a melee attack and there should be a cooldown on them so they can't be spammed. I find myself using it now as a go to close range attack as it's so effective and now I feel cheap!

- Explosives detonated by Dead Man's Trigger are now slightly delayed
- Explosives detonated by Dead Man's Trigger now play a warning sound before exploding

I still don't think they have tackled some of the main problems though. Kick melee, shotgun, smart pistol, minion farming etc. Overall, though, its not a bad update.

Totally agree - the kick melee is ridiculous. They have tried to put pad friendly features into the game to help lesser skilled players and as always, all that happens is good players abuse the system.

Cooldown period is a good idea and has been suggested many times since beta. But removing the lock in is a must in my opinion. Either that or nerf the power big time. Knock back and kick interruption should be put in ASAP too. I think it is daft that a kicking player suffers no penalties for being shot during a kick.

I agree you get players who just run into a room and spam kick the only defense is doing the same back it's just ridiculous. But any game that has a a feature like this is always over powered the knife is the obvious one at least in BF4 you have a counter if the attack from the front.

Stealth OHK's I can understand, but I have been OHK'd from a front kick more than I care to remember. Spam kicking should be fixed with cool down period after use. I think it is the only way to balance the kick melee without completely nerfing it. I would also like to see aim assist / lock on removed for kick melee too.
 
Just wanted to say that the hardpoint changes have totally broken the game. Hardpoint defending now gives next to no XP even though it is an essential part of the game.

Feels really broken now.

EDIT - Hardpoint is now attrition with consoles. Every map so far has been titan dominated because there is 0 incentive to defend now. Might as well remove the consoles and just play TDM to be honest.

as i pointed out though before all people did was sit on one spot whole game cloaked made no attempt to do anything else then they win game :confused:

im running round map fighting 2 or three titans capturing rest of points and i end up bottom :p

its a new patch so maybe a little tweaking but you shouldn't just win from sitting on a point whole game.


the games decent thundy but advisable to play with people on voice coms or with friends who'll attempt to play as a team. randoms can drive you crazy :p

ill pop on later for a few more games . got my big punch back now so titan smashing time :cool:

This is one of the reasons I don't like XP in fps (or unlocks and levelling, but that's a different discussion!). People should defend when necessary in order to win the map. Who cares where you appear in the leader board? If the amount of XP being rewarded affects how people play then I hope these aren't people I end up playing with!

Oh no I agree, defense XP needed cutting a bit, but they have cut it by about two thirds. I have been playing for an hour or so and Hardpoint is now totally offence orientated. Nobody defends at all because you don't score anything for it. You might as well remove the consoles and play TDM - because that is essentially what hardpoint is now. Run from one console to the other trying to kill the enemy. At the end of the day defending a hardpoint is as important as taking it. So I thinkO and D should be on the same level XP wise. Now they have made it totally O orientated.

Also, there is an increase in people using their titans because getting kills classes as "offence" and its easier to kill pilots with a titan than as a pilot. I have also noticed a marked increase in titans using the triple grenade launcher.

My feeling is that both are important and both should be on equal footing. Hardpoint is now totally different to play because all you do is attack. There is no tactical defense anymore because players are chasing the XP and play in a way that mitigates that. It feels like attrition now.

Its a shame because I think Hardpoint has potential, but this patch has totally broken it (imo).

Only players that chase XP rather than a good game. But yeah, there are ppl that play this way and things should be tweaked if they're off. tbh fps should just get rid of unlocks and levelling and force devs into creating longevity with gameplay like the good old days. Keep this mmo crap outta my fps! :)

I think it is definitely naive to think people in public servers are going to play in any other way that to get the most XP. Sure, it would be different if we had dedi's and could practice properly as a team, but as it stands everyone is chasing the top spot on the leaderboard. It has made hardpoint really boring, and I am not just saying that because I tended to play defense a bit more and now I don't do as well (I am still coming in the top 2-3 players every match). I just don't like how it has been rebalanced. I might go back to attrition, because that's all hardpoint is now.

EDIT, I mean it is naive of Respawn, not you!

Just picked the game up today. Enjoying it so far!

Quick question, is there a competitive mode so like 5v5 clan vs clan? Is there is are the "load outs" balanced or is it just still based on your unlocks/etc?
 
custom games i think are coming at some point but just not yet.

take all noob crap off this will be great fun and more down to skill :cool:

Agreed :)

You will be pleased to know attack mode Saturday has been a raging success!! :D

I regenerated earlier too, but it has not been as bad as I expected. Still managing to hold my own. Although I REALLY miss my satchels! :p
