cpu bus speed reduced

I have noticed my cpu bus speed is very slightly reduced when I switch my ram to its xmp profile which the obviously slightly lowers my overclock. Is this normal?

Ive noticed this too using xmp. Base clock at 99mhz and ram speed showing as 1197mhz in cpuz.

Yer that's the speed mine drops too. Strange. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't make too much difference but I'm just curious why.

Actually setter I read somewhere that the ram speed shown in CPUz is halved. Which is why mine shows as 933 and yours shows as 1197. But I can't explain the cpu bus speed.

Yep, double data rate. My ram is a 2400mhz kit. It also shows a few mhz less when oc'd to 2600mhz in bios. When in back on my system ill try with manual settings to see what it does.

Yer I see what you mean. My cpu speed is annoying me now because i had the multiplier set to 43 but now my cpu speed is slightly under 4.3. I'm sure it doesn't make much difference but it's just strange.

I have the same with my oced 4770k.
Cpuz shows it at 4197mhz.
I suspect it may be something voltage related.
I have the cpu oc at 1.2v, but maybe with 1.201 it would actually show as 4200mhz?
No idea what else could it be :-)

Lets ask 8 Pack? :D

ive tried changing it but it doesnt work like that i either have 4397 ir 4406 but not a straight 4400

xmp is a stored profile,so its possible it will adjust the bclk to suit

tried manually settingup the ram speed/timings/voltages and see if cpu bclk is affected?

manually set cpu clock to 100 aswell
