I've been putting together an Amd build for a while and the whole time pretty much set on the M5a97 evo, however after spending a night reading of Asus RMA stories i really think i might go Gigabyte with the 970a-UD3P. It will be with a Fx6300, i wanted to ask what experiences anybody has had with this mobo before i purchase it? I've read a lot of good recent reviews but also a few mixed (with it being quite a recent board) -in regards to Oc'ing etc...

Hey! Yeah, i was looking at the new revision (4.0) and it did look nice, it was just a bit over budget currently. This UD3P was quite a new release (About 6 months old or so) and looked quite promising for the price, it would be great to push for the 990, alas i think it's a bit out of my reach. Thanks for the suggestion though!

no worries i would just stick with your original choice, also one thing i will say is gigabyte have cracking rma and cs there are tons of comments on here praising them.

That's cool, the main reason i've switched from the Asus board (or thought twice) was with me reading more and more of the customer service/Rma. It freaked my out quite a bit! (i've been switching between these motherboards a lot:p) With the Asus having the 6+2 vrms and this one having 8+2. I've been investigating as the Asus board has more info on it/known oc's where as this being quite recent wasn't as much info on it. Thanks for your reply!

yeah ive heard a few horror stories about asus rma yet at the same time i dont know anyone personally, myself included who has had an asus board fail on them. my mate who has the sabertooth even had a burst water pipe and flooded his sytem about 18 months ago and after a week in the spare room with heating on full whack board etc running great ever since

and you wanted to steer clear of asus however i know personally someone who has owned this board for as long as i can remember with no probs whatsoever. its one 990 board i would snap up in a shot

Thanks for the links! :cool: I was set on the Asus M5a97 evo (being a pretty good mobo) but when i read the Rma, i had to think twice :eek:

I'd probably go for a new board as much as the Bgrades are tempting i'd probably go for a full warranty, all this reading has made me paranoid i think :p

Yea, i haven't really known of peoples to fail it was just i thought 'what if' and sods law and all that :p With Gigabyte having the returns/rma in the uk it really made me think what i should go for. I think aswell the Asus motherboards are great, it's just that one part that worries me/sends a shiver down my back ;)
 
i wouldnt worry about b grade ive had more than a few stuff from ocuk and no probs yet and if you get a gigabyte board im pretty sure you still have the full warranty, well thats what im led to believe from gigabyte anyways as they informed me all rma goes by the serial number and my current board is a bgrade from ocuk and im getting whatever manufacturer warranty goes with it

Ah ofc, i didn't think of that really with the Serial numbers (been a while since i bought any hardware) Is another thing to take into consideration, thanks! Although i'll still probably shoot for the UD3P, or the evo (but it's heavily swayed towards Gb :p Thanks for your replies though man, appreciated :)
