I want to live in America

Weather, landscape, landmass, laws
Many reason why America is both much better and much wires than the uk, it just depends which parts you rate highly.

Us criminal system and laws absolutely suck, but that's unlikely to affect me, so comes down low. Where weather, land size etc comes very high up on the list.

You should follow J Mantzel on Youtube if you dont already. He used to have a big plot of land in America and has now decided to buy a small island in Panama I believe. Really interesting guy to watch. i'd love to do what he is doing.

Thanks will have a look.
The older I get the less I want a nice house and be stuck in the rat race. that's not to say I dint want to work or pay taxes. I just want to decide what to spend it on, things like traveling are far more important than a stupid over priced house. thanks to overbearing and unneeded planning laws, which pretty much no other country has.

Edit - oh it's him with the giant spider robot thing.

Is it right that the average broadband bill in America is like $80 a month - for non fibre?

I pay about $40 a month for 30mb unlimited. There are a lot cheaper plans but with 6mb line for instance.

Mobile phones/service is expensive too.

Electronics are cheaper though.

My phone bill is more expensive over here definitely, again it depends WHO you go with. I choose to go with the best, which is of course the most expensive.

In fact most the world has less strict laws than us on such things.
Try 'jaywalking' in the US.

America is a great country to visit, but it is too much of a mess to live in. A long-term illness will destroy you financially, the increasingly militarised police and overpowered prosecutors will do their best to ruin your life if the opportunity arises, and basic services like schools are funded by local taxes instead of at the state or Federal level, so poorer areas always get the short end of the stick.

It's great for a holiday but am not so sure about living there full time. California takes some beating but a free health service, more paid holidays and the lack of guns make the UK a bit more appealing to me.

I'd love to visit the the West coast. San Diego, San Francisco, up to Portland, maybe Seattle.

Would be cool to see the old America too, South Carolina and such.

I can understand someone not wanting to live there due to the cultural differences, but to say you wouldn't even holiday there is really silly

San Francisco is amazing, that was my first trip to the US back in 99'

I know a chap whose just got hisself a job in Silicon Valley - lucky sod, but fair play to him - he jumped through hoops to get it. Hard not to be jealous though.

As the entirety of the USA has tornados, and rain is far worse than proper winters.

Well your comment which I replied to heavily implied that the US 'had better weather' without taking the fact each State can be vastly different into account so you don't get to introduce that point now. Same with land mass, people live is far closer proximity in places like NY or Detroit than they do in the UK.
