Anyone know some gaming related books that are worth reading? I mean non fiction books not game guides :)

I was looking on kindle store for games related books but couldn't find anything that looked decent.

So anyone know of any gaming related books that are worth reading?

Thanks :)

My wife has read The Infernal City: An Elder Scrolls Novel by Greg Keyes. Said it was very decent. It has good reviews on Amazon too.

Masters of Doom by David Kushner is a pretty good read. Obviously not as broad as the example you linked to, but a very interesting story nonetheless.

I really enjoyed the Warcraft books.

More specifically the ones wrote by Christie Golden such as Lord of the Clans, Arthus, Rise of the Clans and The Shattering.

Read them all and got hooked quick.

I can't help with a book but the documentary about Mojang and Minecraft being made is very interesting. It's on youtube.

I've got this - it's dated but well worth a read!

As is a book called GAME OVER by David Sheff.

Both were very insightful when they were written and I'd love the authors to pick up where they left off up to present day.

:)

From the horses mouth per say. If you're realy looking through the history, then consider adding podcasts to you're armoury.

Most of the 8 bit scene guys have done, do interviews on the retro podcasts. Amazingly laid back for the most part, they spill it all:)

If books are realy you're thing though, a book about sensible software is floating about after a kickstarter effort, and the bedrooms to billions you'd probably be intrested in too.
