Hi,

I'm looking at getting myself a 1.25 Zetec 5dr Fiesta, 09 plate onwards.

Have a budget of around 8k but can stretch to 8.5 if required. Looking to go dealer as I've had bad private experience, my own fault of course.

8k gives me quite a few options however I'm not not sure how much value I'm getting with the Fiesta and which mileage option to go for.

Dealers such as Benfield and Jennings have various fiestas that range from 2009 with 30k miles for £6.8-7.5 to ones with around half the mileage 10/11 plate for £8-8.5.

I'm just wondering whether or not its worth paying the extra 1-1.5k to get the miles down and pick up a newer car or if the 30k 2009s worth out the better deal.

You should get a newish car for that...

I paid £4430 for a 2008 58 plate Fiesta ST on 42000 miles, full mot, 6 months tax, mint cond, some nice goodies and loads of spares, I'm the 3rd owner. This was last July. I know it's the older model but still. I was lucky, I sold loads of spares it came with and it ended up costing around £3600 to buy! Bargain.

You'd be mad to spend 7k on an 09 plate smaller engined model.

You probably would be better looking elsewhere for your car as that's not brill value. You can be in a 10 plate Fiesta Zetec S for 7500 quid probably with change to spare :)

Your car is an old shape Fiesta, it first appeared 12 years ago and the values of them all begin to converge once its been replaced for as long as it has been - 5 years this year. That makes the later models of your shape good value, £4k for a 58 plate is pretty good.

He is looking at 11 plate approved used cars from main dealers for £8.5k, this hardly seems outrageous and the price of buying an older previous shape one from a private seller is almost completely irrelevant.

Yeah that looks like a great buy. Only downside is I'm after a 5dr instead of 3 :P

Are Evan Halshaw a decent dealership? I've never heard anything but bad things about their aftercare which is primarily why im going dealer.

I'm not massively fussed on the bluetooth, will just be glad to at least have aux. Obviously I will try and pick up one with it but I'm aware it wasnt standard on all Zetecs. Didn't know that was the difference between retail and fleet though.

I didn't have a great experience with Evans Halshaw (Chorley Branch). I bought a 2.5 yr old fiesta off them which had just gone through an MOT which had 2 illegal tires and it took me forever to get them to sort it out. A variety of other issues with after sales and generally an unpleasant experience.

My next car i'm considering going private and doing a full AA check.

I would look at the 1.4 petrol, the 1.25 is too under powered in the mk7, fine for local slow town driving, however anything else it is under powered.
Check that the bluetooth works too, as the module is prone to failing, but it also takes out the aux input and the usb input oo.
