There really are some sick people in the world

Nothing new. Someone did the same at a park in my home town when I was a kid. That's got to be 25 years ago at least.

Some people are just dangerous to society. It has always been the case and always will be.

Edit - they did it on the big slide not the general equipment.
 
I remember on our sports field way back in the early 90's for the long jump thing etc... They expected us to jump in the sand part where there was dog/cat excrement etc... and broken beer bottles! Crazy.
 
When you live in a society that allows large numbers of people to live below the poverty line in worsening conditions you're going to get a number of people that decide life has no value and therefore inflicting pain and suffering onto others is of no consequence and is just another mundanity to fill the time before you die.

The underage drinkers started doing that at our local football pitches. Friday night they'd get ****ed up then break all their bottles round the goal mouth / centre circle and stamp the glass into the ground. Come Saturday morning, we'd have to go down early to inspect the pitch before we could play.

That went on for a couple of weeks, despite reporting the problem to the police, until someone reported the problem to the local paramilitaries. They went and paid the drinkers a visit when they were up the park and we had no more problems with it.
 
I believe a good 15-18yrs ago some thugs decided to hammer nails at the bottom of the water flumes at Wet'N'Wild. The first person that went down ended up with horrific injuries due to the speed of their descent.

This pretty much.

We have a population who endorse & support changes which create the conditions required for this kind of maladjusted individual to develop.

We can get angry at scum or stop making them, personally I'll pick the latter.
 
Yup, hence my #1 reason for not going on flumes when I was younger.

My cousin told me this story (no idea if it was true or not) of people in Italy sticking small scalpel blades along flume rides. Whether or not that story was true I have no idea but I'm certain this sort of thing goes on.

Urban myth. If you google it, there's a newsgroup discussion on the topic from the mid 90s, about the same myth being circulated in the 80s.
 
Good grief.

I don't why but i always quickly check the ground area for syringes and anything nasty but I wouldn't have thought about checking the equipment.

Some bored sick twisted people out there.
