If you are waiting on the latest Radeonpro - Stop waiting...

Not sure why so much disappointment. Everything he has done cam quite easy be added to this new application. It's what he has always wanted support from amd and might be his biggest break to put his work into a application that will help amd improve there GPUs.

How I take it anyway.

Raptr may actually become useful with his input. My disappointment is because RP2 was almost ready according to John. The current version of RP is quite dated and is not Mantle compatible or truly 64bit compatible. Want to use it with 64 bit games, expect issues. Or compatibility with Mantle games, not going to happen. AMD have publicly stated they won't incorporate RP features into their drivers as it is so low level that it CAN AND DOES break games if you don't know what you are doing. So no way in hell will the excellent features of RP be incorporated into anything officially endorsed by AMD. That includes Raptr.

Sweet FX control
Ambient Occlusion
Custom MSAA profiles
Custom CFX profiles
FXAA and SMAA Injectors
Dynamic FPS control
Force Triple Buffering

None of these have a hope in hell of ever making it into an official AMD utility.

That's a shame. It would have been good for you guys to have a ShadowPlay equivalent. He has said he hasn't dropped it totally though, so might still get it or something similar in the drivers/Raptr.

Sad news, I was looking through the site earlier today and didn't see this and I was quite optimistic about the release.

Due to him saying rp is being frozen I take it as he will be doing other things with raptr and return to rp at a (much?) Later date. I think it will help him and rp by now having a larger backing, he may learn things from raptr that will further develop rp.

Either way I wouldn't be too worried just yet, I do see it as essential software on amd cards though.

This 100%. As RadeonPro becomes older and forgotten about it will become obsolescent. There are already a few games that RP doesn't like to play nice with. This will only get worse. I don't expect ANY of the low level features in RP to be incorporated into Raptr. AMD will not introduce potential game breaking options where people moan that AMD Raptor broke their game. Think of what Nvidiainspector does, it is still an almost essential app for anyone with an Nvidia GPU. Yet Nvidia will never adopt the low level options from NVInspector into their standard CP options or Shadowplay. There are just far too many options that will break your game.

Raptr will be similar. It only uses the GPU tweaks/options that are already available in CCC.

Never tried RadeonPro.
Don't think I'll install Raptr either as I've little interest in it from what I currently understand it to be and won't be installing it for the RP features.
If they just added RP (maybe under a different name) to the AMD drivers, then I might have tried it.

I don't have any issues with 64bit games and radeonpro always worked fine for me.
What 64bit games you having issues with? Also we never get mantle till amd release it to the public.

Take note of the hint at amd gaming app under the image. My bet is rp will be added to that program.

...because it's been (for all intents and purposes) cancelled.

http://www.radeonpro.info/2014/03/important-announcement-about-radeonpro/

RadeonPro is in desperate need of an update so it can support Mantle and proper 64bit. Bad news for AMD owners that it is now on hold indefinitely and the developer is going to work on that gawd awful raptr keek .:(

The GE App is not bad at all, its no different to Nvidia's...thing, yes i do run the GE app

RP 2.0 integration into it would be great IMO

My only annoyance is the lengthy wait for RP 2.0, its actually been years in total, now the waiting starts from day one again, so how many more years of "don't have time, my computer is broken, its coming its coming its coming its coming now its coming its not coming....

Frankly. move on. nothing to see here. just the usual crap about something we might see when we are old and gray.

This is why i dont buy AMD i thought RadeonPro was the go to tool for AMD and i was tempted pre DX 12 announcement to pull the trigger on a 290X and believe me that's massive when i love Nvidia's drivers.

Ambient Occlusion
Dynamic FPS control
Force Triple Buffering

The important features are those i really need AO at driver level and im ok with AB for my fps control. I have not encountered anything that did not have TB either never noticed a game ever that goes from 30 to 60. Tbh how do AMD not have AO and force TB at driver level?

All those tools and a whole lot more exist in RP-1, i think thats really the problem, AMD don't want to put some of those more basic features in CCC because they exist in RP.

They are not difficult things to add to CCC and really AMD should just behave as tho RP does not exist, because years of development of an upgraded RP tool is completely unacceptable.

And who knows how much longer it will take now....

Really i do think AMD should just forget about John and add the basic features themselves.

Still. For me thats a very long way from influencing my buying decisions.

It's not the basic features that make rp so vital though, yes the basics should be available at driver level but they'll never add the depth of rp features.
