My Nephew will be having his Christening soon and I'd like to get him something a bit different.

The plan is to give him a box that he can open up on his 18th that will contain items relevant to his Christening date.

The problem is that I'm having trouble thinking of things to put in there.

So far I have:

Newpaper from that day
A pound coin from that year
The UK top 40 single of that day

But I'm stuck for anything else.

I thought it would be a good idea rather than your usual silver money boxes, photo frames and cuff links, and I think I'd appreciate something like that for my 18th, he's too young to appreciate expensive gifts.

Any ideas welcome!

Cheers.

Playboy for that month.
(Or equivalent porn mag).

:D

Um no seriously.

Howabout a video game or something?
Or a typical cheapy smartphone? (Im sure he will be shocked to see what we were using today compared to 18 years from now!)

Daily Mail, so he can see which 'celebs' have changed relationship status, and to see which immigrants have stolen jobs

But seriously, a pound coin because they will have so many more sides to them by the time he is 18 and floating around on his hoverboard

Not such a Unique Idea I received a Hamper from my parents on my 18th with such items from my date of Birth they also added my 1st boots, A Gold Sovereign from my Grand parents, a Bottle 'o' Port (supposed to be made on my DoB {unfortunately they couldn't find said item so got me a bottle from 11years earlier [I still have it]}) & Birthday cards kept from my 1st 5 Birthdays.

I think this is a great idea, but get some expensive silverware as well. It'll probably appreciate in value over 18 years but will also carry sentimental value for his parents.

How about a presentation pack of stamps?

A copy of the Qu'ran, the Torah, the Tipitaka, the Vedas, the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and the Origin of Species.

After all, surely any responsible uncle would want their nephew to have an educated and well rounded view of the world and religions, rather than being indoctrinated into one at a young age before they are able to make an informed decision?

A few Richard Dawkins books would probably be a good start.

Or if you were really responsible you could save the money you would have spent on a lavish religious ceremony and give it to those more needy like a good christian would do.
