If this does turned out to be factory watercooled as standard i think amd need to be very clever and careful in which way they implement this as despite what some people may say on here the amount of people who have custom watercooling loops ready to go to pop one of these into is by far not amd's biggest market. Also miners all seem to be running air with 100% fan speed. And with the growing m-itx market (the reason i am interested in one of these or gtx790) a dual card such as this is perfect, but do all people have water loops ready to go in their itx's??

With all the hints it does seem to be going towards watercooling which is very interesting. Because of the above i don't see the initial official version being just a waterblocked card. And if they go for a AIO water cooler, what size rad are they going for? As they need to be able to accomodate a wide range of systems, i.e not everybody may have space for a 120.2, i.e will a 120.1 be capable enough to handle this beast??

My personal opinion is we are going to see a cooler very similar to the ASUS Poseidon gtx790 cards, although instead of barbs for your own water loop, it will be an AIO 120.1 so i.e with also a fan on the card and a heatsink on the card. Almost like a hybrid design of air and water. This i predict will be the 'reference' amd model. As i feel this way amd can maximise their market and the potential of people who can accomodate this card in their systems. Then i think we might see some custom waterblocked cards and other designs from other vendors for the real enthusiasts amongst us.

AMD Radeon R9 295 X2 arrives April 8th

Swedish website Nordic Hardware reports that the upcoming dual-GPU Hawaii-based graphics card will be released on April 8th.

Although the codename of the card is not yet fully confirmed, we do have rather reliable information from other sites that the new Radeon will be called R9 295 X2. This new monstrous graphics card would be released on April 8th, which is most likely just a paper launch. Card is expected to be available in stores around mid-April. Regardless of the availability date, it would still be less than a year after Radeon HD 7990 was released.

It is going to be beastly, but I read on another site (will try dig out link) that the rumoured pricing is $1500 which is $500 more than the previous 2 AMD dual GPUs launched at. This is being attributed to the hybrid cooling solution.

Kinda stinks if that price-point is accurate. You could, in theory, buy a couple of 290X's, full-cover blocks and assemble a custom loop, which would be quiter, cooler and as a result more than likely have a higher performance threshold for probably not a lot more than this card will cost.

Hybrid cooling adding 50% to the price??? Mental.

You could buy two Kraken cooled 290s on this website for that much and if that is the case I will be bummed. This is AMDs chance to blow by Nvidia in Dual Cards with price to performance, because if NVIDIA has a 790 it will be able to come air cooled and thus it could beat AMD in pricing... There goes the price to performance argument ;)

But seriously, does anyone know if this will be dual 290x or 290? I already have 2 290s and wouldn't mind 2 more but I don't want 2 290xs with 2 290s.

Nvidia will likely launch a 'gaming' GTX 790 crippled compute and less vram to directly compete with the R9 295. I bet it'll come a few weeks after to rain on AMD's parade. Kind of like the 780Ti coming just after the 290X.

At these prices though better to just buy two single GPU's..

The Nvidia Titan Z (2x GK110) is rumoured to be $3000, which would be £2500 ish.

This looks factory watercooled to me.

I don't want one of those crap hybrid neither here nor there coolers like the Poseidon.

Dont see why they cant just release a dedicated high end air cooler or a chance to buy just the PCB so we can slap a real block on them. A 120.1 AIO cooler would be a stupid move for those not looking to cook their cards.

I don't mind factory watercooled like Powercolor 290x's where they put a real waterblock on there and charged about the same price as a 290x + EK block. If they went with a AIO loop or a hybrid solution id be fairly disappointed, especially considering that it pumps the price up a ridiculous amount.
