After having some great results with the MSI Lightnings on Air I thought I would take 4 home and rag em on water with very limited LN2 reserves for CPU. So I started with Vantage and took out 4 card WR.

Details of system:
4930K @ 6260 for GT's and 6210 for Physics.
ASUS RIVE BE
Corsair Dom plats 2666mhz C9-12-12-20 1T
MSI Lightning R290X 1275/1610 (Sweet spot on mems for this bench)
EK watercooling blocks on GPU's
Corsair and Antec PSU's

The cards can go 1300/1675+ easy on water for Firestrike Xtreme and 11 even in quad GPU. I tested this also but did not have enough LN2 to run CPU high. Watch this space.............

Thanks to Gibbo for loaning me his better clocking RAM card!! mine lowest is 1625 his does 1725-1750, Nice one Gibbo!!

Normal water cooling. EK core only blocks and VRM cooling plates that come with cards.

I have 1400/1720 on Lightening single card. 1720 is like 1820+ Hynix when benching. Amazing efficiency.

How do the 290X lightnings compare in 'user overclocking' to others?

Are they a much better setup for the GPU?

All seem strong from what I have tested. 5 Cards all 1200+ Core 1.35v and 1625 Plus RAMs (4 out 5 doing 1700+) with 1625 being like 1725 on Hynix card. MSI only use Samsung which is massively efficient.

The PWM is great too.

I spoke with MSI VGA PM Friday about increased AB limits for the card. They are working on this for sure.

I will do four way though in four way 1300/1675 was easy. Need to change out card 1 as it looses display at low voltages 1.4v. Given like 1.5 Maybe 1350/1400 4 way is possible. More LN2 next week at home and single card LN2 testing at work this week.

Perhaps AMD could learn something from MSI.

+1 on those Samy IC's, they are the best, i like Samy stuff of this sort, i have an 830 SSD, its a fantastic bit of kit, i would only get their SSD's now.

They actually learned from the Pack!!! We had a couple of early ES and made some recommendations. One major one being Samsung RAM and nothing else.

In the next line of lightnings even more stuff we asked for will be implemented.
