Vandalism in New Estate

What are security fences? I have images of Belfast peace walls...
Love a bit of segregation!

Random, the same thing has happened in the new estate I am in in London.

Also used to be a college, now a huge site. For the first few years, the gate at end that backed on to a not so nice street was closed off, and there was only one way t enter the estate.

Now that everything is finished, they opened it up allowing thoroughfare, and there have been scrotes hanging about, causing trouble, breaking in to cars and whatnot.

Oddly enough crime in my street dropped dramatically when the train line was reinstated - cutting right though the street and making mine essentially a dead end with no pedestrian or traffic through-route.

It's rare to see pedestrians at all, literally perhaps 1 a month who hasn't noticed the dead end signs and fence they're walking toward. I totally sympathise with the OP but it's unlikely they'll reverse the decision and to be fair after a further period things will probably die down, I wouldn't' expect the police or council to offer much other than promises which they don't fulfil, such as "additional patrols" which rarely happens.

The security fence was out there years ago as the new estate has been built on an old college site.

Behind the fence on one side is our front garden and on the other side is a playing field, then the main road and other estate.

We live in a close, where there was only one way in and out. Now the path is there and is open to anyone to enter from the side.

Where abouts in Derby? Doesn't happen to be the new estate on Goodsmore Rd or the new one where the old baseball ground used to be?

Is this the one in Mackworth? The pcso's walk around quite regularly so will hopefully add that patch onto their rounds.

Yuck Northerners on a housing estate, probably robbing each other for beer and snouts.

Sterilize the women and euthanize the children.

Yes, that's the one. I have spoken with a couple of neighbours, who tell me the area used to be called Smackworth

Apparently out of the 2 footpaths recently created, only one of them had planning permission. So I am hoping that the council will show some kind of consistency, just like when there forcing homeowners to demolish extensions.

I don't see why they shouldn't be able to put the fence back and close the footpaths... is the development just housing or do you have new shops, doctor's surgery etc.. if its just housing and you've had issues since they created these paths/pulled down fencing then I really don't see the issue... why provide a short cut/easy access to the local youth from some nearby scum estate....

When we started looking at the development, they mentioned a new doctor's surgery, Fitness center and some local shops. But now they have sold the land to another company to build a further 200 homes on.

Move somewhere else? Sell now and you can offer it as a premium to people who want to live there now that it is quiet?

Well dottty27, he has a choice. Move to somewhere better, or continue being robbed and vandalised.

Staying in the current position and hoping the problems will be resolved by a council is depressingly naive.
