Luckily I know a good strat for Blitzball, so the first time you play against the Goers were relatively easy, after that, its very easy.

Anyone lucky enough to have Attack reels on the first blitzball tournament, I fist pumped the air when I did.

I think I got a luck sphere or something similar. I guess I should have kept ressetting the prizes screen until I got something better

I switched to manual a, swam with Tidus down the bottom left, when he got near the goal I used a standard shot (this was in the first half) and to my surprise the shot went in!
Second half I used the Jecht shot to score another (again by dribbling down the left hand side).

Make sure you do something with Tidus in the first half (pass or shoot) so he levels up at half time which allows you to select sphere shot or Jecht shot as his tech.

Expert has fewer nodes and every character starts close to the center. The grid is much less linear so you have more of a role in how you develop each character (you can make Tidus a white mage very early on for example).

It's more fun basically.

If you want to get wakkas attack reels and/or his fully upgraded celestial weapon then you will have to deal with it

Wakka has one of the better overdrives when fully upgraded, so it's worth getting

You need to win to get them as prizes, but winning becomes easier and easier as time goes on

Yup, it took me quite a few attempts. You need to get a bit lucky with the balloons at the start as well as the birds(sometimes they seem to spawn right on top of you). I've only got kimahri's, wakkas and lulus final weapons to get now. I am not looking forward to the 200 lightning bolt challenge, I never completed it on the ps2, I think I got 197 lightning bolts dodged then I fluffed it.

I've spent the last few hours trying to get triple AP weapons for everybody, I ended up killing One Eye over 60 times but I still haven't got a triple AP weapon for Yuna or Rikku. I'll come back to it another time I think, at least I don't need to farm for Magic Defense spheres anymore

For the lightning its 7 seconds then 15 seconds in-between bolts

Still takes some serious concentration lol, and don't envy you doing it. I tried when i was there during the story line manged 120, gave up and went on with the story!

Not looking forward to it, only a bloody bronze trophy as well!!!

I tried it once and got to 60 or so, either i'm getting slow in my old age or it's harder. If I got as far as I did then there's no reason i can't see it through to the end so i'll just stick with it when I've got nothing better to do.

I've now got enough strength that I can farm the easier arena bosses, I was hoping to kill dark valefor and finish off my blitzball team but it's not dropping the Break HP limit+ribbon 4 slot armour I want. Maybe i'm asking too much

This stuff is so much easier on the PS2 emulator with save states, if you screw something up you can instantly load back to where you were a few seconds ago.

I made a **** up very early on in the game, forgot to do the destruction sphere @besaid lol. So it means i've not got Yuna's fully unlocked weapon, Anima etc

Gotta go back and pay Yojimbo to kill it for me. As for getting decent armour, go kill yojimbo, gotta kill him 5 times in a row, kill him 4 times and exit the cave. Rinse and repeat till you've got something decent.

I was typing a message on my phone last night saying how the annoying chocobo race was, but as SOON as I typed it out I'd done the race!

It took around 2 hours in total for me to do it, it was really infuriating though.

Because I'd spent so long grinding with Wakka, Rikku and Tidus, Tidus is doing around 90,000 per hit which is lovely

! Rikku is doing around 60k.
I still need Wakkas Ultimate Weapon

I've got Triple AP weapons for everyone, and all have Overdrive to AP as well.
So will be maxing out the sphere grid for all characters now.

I need to get Triple OD so that I can have a weapon with Triple AP, Triple OD and OD to AP. This will enable that character to max out their grid with ease.

Once they're all maxed I'll spend time playing Blitzball and winning all the stuff needed.

Finally started, I just got Ifrit so pretty much at the start. Feels totally new, I don't think I took in any of the story when I was younger. Terrified about making wrong decisions on the sphere grid (standard) but I'm pretty sure with enough grinding you can fill most of it. The hardest part is figuring out what to specialise people in.
I just looked at the stats before I upgraded them and went down the same path eg, accuracy for Wakka, str Tidus etc.

Cannot really go wrong with the standard grid, you don't get much choice other than going their respective paths

What's your playtime? Also, what monsters did you farm for Triple AP? My brother has told me about using OD > AP for powerleveling your secondary characters, he never mentioned getting TripleAP and TripleOD!!

One Eye at the monster arena drops the 3 slot weapons with Triple AP on it. Then you just need to modify with Triple Overdrive and Overdrive to AP. After that, farm Cactuar King.

I'm doing the same, except i'm farming Don Tonberry instead of Cactuar king. I gave up trying to get a break HP limit and ribbon armour from Dark Anima. I settled for just a break HP armour for Auron instead that will do for the time being. I did intend to farm Dark Yojimbo as mentioned above but i'm simply not strong enough for that yet and Dark Valefor is so easy to kill....even with low stats.

I'm just working on padding out my sphere grid now with +4 stats...
