I am chuffed with this:

It has the alloy wheels I was looking for, DAB radio, MFD with USB connection and voice activated phone system.

I went out Sunday just to kick tyres and found the car I was thinking of getting new, its a 62 plate Match with just 7k miles and upgrade alloys, DAB radio and phone system.

I took it for a test drive and bought it, I have never driven a German car before, it was so smooth and quiet, the gearbox is so smooth.

It is amazing compared to my Fiesta ST, my old car is nice but as I have gotten older I hate the seats and the ride and the noise.

I accept people will laugh that I have got a Polo but I am happy :) I was thinking about an A3 or 1 Series but I didn;t want to worry about expensive maintenance and running costs.

Very nice. Is it the 1.2 or 1.4 match? Manual or DSG? How'd you find the switch in terms of performance coming from the ST?

I only took it for a test drive, it is a 1.4 Match, manual. It is a lot slower than my ST but certainly isn't slow slow, I have never thrashed my ST but as I have got older I just wanted a nice comfy ride with some gadgets and a quiet cabin.

I can never speed in Kent on the M20 and M25 so wasn't bothered about a faster car really, I wanted cheaper tax and insurance, not that it was massive on the ST, I am over 30 now :(

I pick the Polo up on the 24th April, as I will be back to my parents and they needed time to sort out some money for me too borrow. The bank of Mum and Dad is great, they just want 2% interest as they were going to put it in an ISA, so it saves me 2-3% on a car loan doing it thr4ough my parents.

62 plate Match.
Welcome back. 62 Match tells me nothing. I'm not up to speed on Polo trim levels.
Petrol? Diesel? 1.0? 1.2? 1.4?

Why is the OP so vague?
Is the 1.4 petrol or diesel.

You make a thread with your new car, post a shoddy picture and give no info as to what's under the bonnet!

Welcome :)

I have a 1.2 Petrol Match, which is slow granted however it's comfy for a small car (even though quite big) and has quite a few toys. I would like to upgrade my allows though.

Here is mine

Did you try any of it's competitors?

No, I didn't try anything else. I was looking at buying new on a PCP. I thought about a Seat Ibiza Toca as well but thought with the Polo I found I would own the car and not have to worry about mileage. Also my thinking was the Polo, being a VW, would hold value more if/when I want to sell it.

T^his was a spare of the moment dicision. There was an Audi A1 there for 12k with 55k miles, seemed massive miles for a small car, similar story with an 1 Series they had. So the Polo with the gadgets seemed a good move over an Se Golf at 13-14k with between 15-30k miles.

I drove a Fiesta beforehand, just didn't prefer it as much. I have mine on a PCP deal, got it through VW on a good deal from a mate.

Apart from the 1.2 being slow can't fault it but I only drive 2 miles to work and back so doesn't bother. Surprisingly quiet and comfortable on the motorway too.

Yes your looks nice, I can't wait to get it, the polo doesn't seem that much smaller than a golf

It looks small outside, especially parked next other cars. When inside though, it feels quite spacious. The front feels big, I think that is because of the deep dashboard.

Looks great.

Out of interest how much did you pay if you dont mind me asking?

The facelift is due at the end of April so there are a lot of deals on the current model - deposit contributions, free insurance etc. Did you look at the deals on buying brand new?

I paid 10,770.

I did look at PCP deals but it didn't stack up compared to the used car only having 7k miles being on a 62 plate, with the options added on a new car, a new PCP Polo would have been £15kish which seemed crazy given that on a PCP I would pay around 10k in 36 months and still not own the car, all for the sake of 7k miles on this used one.

There will always be a new facelift around the corner :D

I don't understand car purchases like this, £10,770 seems a lot of money to me for the type of car which really you should only ever encounter as a cheap airport rental.
