Hey all,

Help with some advice please? My sisters car has been to BMW for an accident repair (very minor) and they have now turned around and said you need a tyre (tyres were fine a month ago with plenty of tread... so I'm a little suspicious anyway).

They have turned around and priced her a 195 55 16 Pirelli euphoria tyre at £169. My question is this - does she need these runflat tyres? Would it be better to change to normal tyres at this point instead of fitting a new tyre with a worn existing one on the same axle?

Thanks for any help :)

You need to replace all 4 of them you can't just replace one axle at a time as the tyres flex differently and could be lethal. Not sure of the legality of non runflats and runflat mix.

Don't pay that price for that tyre!!
It's not a good tyre and that price is scandalous.

Have a look at http://www.blackcircles.com/ or http://www.camskill.co.uk/ to get an idea of how much she should be paying!

You can get a Goodyear Excellence RFT for £100!

Thank you mate! Just looked on blackcircles and indeed the excellence is £100. I assume this will play nicely with whatever other run flat is on the other side?

You would ideally replace all tyres on the same axle at the same time if one is already worn, so do that if you can. If you can't do that, then you should match the same tyre to the one on the other side.

I'll tell her to take it away from BMW and then she can tell me what is fitted to the other side. Thanks to you too sir.
