Can you still buy a new CRT TV anywhere?

I still miss my Sony Trinitron portable that I used to have for console gaming. That was an awesome TV with a great picture.

CRT. Portable. Aren't those mutually exclusive terms? :p

LOL, well as a teenager, lumping that around wasn't easy, but it was still just about "Portable". :p

Oddly I still remember how it smelled when I first got it. I'd just treated myself to a US SNES so needed a TV with SCART/60Hz support. :D

Plenty on the bay, Gumtree, Freecycle, Facebook selling groups, Loot, etc.

I last bought a CRT in 2006, it was 28" and needed 2 people to carry it. Never want to go back to that again.

Do you shout, "OMG you're poor!" or something? :D

I didn't really want to get rid of my old CRT, it worked fine. :/

I couldn't wait to get rid of my 21" CRT monitor, I was able to half the depth of my desk and recover a nice chunk of space in my room :p

Plus I still say the picture of a high quality CRT is better than that of a cheap flat screen (non HD of course)

I kept my CRT PC monitor for years into flat screen age. I had a game with night levels and at that time you simply couldn't play them properly of a flat screen.

Even today, I bought my parents a 40" HD flat screen for Xmas. It's great but as soon as you move a foot away from looking straight on and the colours are horrible.

Other than the availability of HD CRTs and the physical size, they beat all but the highest end flat screen for picture quality and usability.

I am sure I read somewhere that CRT's are making a comeback, one big store said that a good % of their sales were CRT's, the picture quality is generally better than TFT.

Not sure if serious, many CRT monitors could pee all over 1080p resolutions.

Our last CRT was a 32" Philips Matchline and it weighed 50Kg. It was one of two TV's that nearly killed me.
