A bought a new car :D VW Polo

I don't understand car purchases like this, £10,770 seems a lot of money to me for the type of car which really you should only ever encounter as a cheap airport rental.

I'm of the same opinion.

The car in the O/P is nice, but £10k would buy you so much more :(

My sister has just spunked £17k on a brand new IX35 :( It's lovely, but such a waste of money

I am chuffed with this:

It has the alloy wheels I was looking for, DAB radio, MFD with USB connection and voice activated phone system.

I went out Sunday just to kick tyres and found the car I was thinking of getting new, its a 62 plate Match with just 7k miles and upgrade alloys, DAB radio and phone system.

I took it for a test drive and bought it, I have never driven a German car before, it was so smooth and quiet, the gearbox is so smooth.

It is amazing compared to my Fiesta ST, my old car is nice but as I have gotten older I hate the seats and the ride and the noise.

I accept people will laugh that I have got a Polo but I am happy :) I was thinking about an A3 or 1 Series but I didn;t want to worry about expensive maintenance and running costs.

One of the people i work with has one the exact same car alloys and all through our nhs work lease scheme and he put all the toys on it and still only come out as 120 quid a month inc insurance etc etc its one of the cheapest cars on the whole lease apart from fiesta's.

I've been in it a few times and its a nice little car hope you enjoy it :)

Did you try and haggle? Dealers are struggling to get rid of currents models - the offers aren't just on pcp. For that sort of money you really should have gone for a brand new one. The alloys and dab don't really warrant buying an older one.

Re the refresh - this one has been out since late 59 plates so it has been a good few years.

Yes I got some money off. But the PCP deal is a lot more Money and I would have to pay the lump sum to own it. S

With the extras I would need on the new car it was getting expensive.

I don't get it, why is everyone saying get PCP

The man's just saved £5k, that's basically a third, over buying 18months old which is still practically a new car and it's got the options he wanted. The very idea of PCP in this situation is preposterous!

That was my reasoning. Its only done 7k as well. Well I am happy at least:)

The polo is a very nice car to be in, a league above most super minis in terms of refinement and interior quality. Typical VW so you dont get much kit as standard and slightly £££ but that's the what you get for going VAG over say a Ford or Honda.

Wasn't having a go :). It's a great car - our next one will more than likely be a Polo. It's just the add ons etc are badly priced and the standard spec is pretty poor. But I suppose you get the vag quality.

I had a 63 plate Golf TDI 2 weekends ago, very comfy, well dampened and cocooned and refined for a diesel, but boy was it awful to drive, so utterly bland, there is no connection between the car and driver and the clutch is like stepping on a foot pump. The interior was also nothing special, lots of grey cheap feeling plastics with cheap fake silver panels, the arm rest storage cover didn't work properly either.
