Before we start this is not a medical thread, I not asking what to do.

At work we get a free Complete health check, I think its this one.

I haven't booked one and probably won't as my mind keeps going back to the scrubs episode with the free full body scan.

Dr. Cox: I'm not even sweatin'! Because, honest to God, what kind of gullible chump would go ahead and spend a thousand dollars on some silly scan if he's feeling perfectly fine?

This seems to be a common thought among the people at work as well. So I am just wondering who would take up the offer and who agrees with me?

I ignored my free NHS health check when I turned forty. They'd only tell me to stop smoking and drink less.

^^This! :D

Last time I seen a quack was 3 years ago, when I was suffering from
cluster headaches. Not been back since, as there was sod all they gave that worked. :(

The new doc in town is google! Unless i have snapped my arm or leg of course. ;)

I'd take it, a few seconds of having a doctor put his finger up your bum versus the chance of finding something wrong at an early stage. I am a hypochondriac though...

Only if I can get the scans. I really want a full body scan.
Nhs refused my application for the x-ray :(. But gave me the rest of the documents.

No reason not to really?

When I joined my current firm I HAD to go for a health check provided by them, the reason being they didn't want to employ someone on the verge of keeling over (which is fair enough, I thought) so I went for it and got offered a 'free' 'complimentary' testicle check by a nurse which made for some hilarious talk afterwards.

They said my health was fine etc they also gave me a sight and hearing test and confirmed all was fine - even though its not something I remotely worried about day to day, it's nice to know. :)

Better to find out whether you have a problem at an early stage then at a later possibly more serious stage.

I had that very test last week.
I get it free with work as well.
The nurse will spend an hour performing various tests on you and then collate all the info for the doctor who will spend 45mins chatting with you about the results and any other health concerns you have.
You will get a questionnaire to fill in before hand and this is you opportunity to describe anything that niggles you but you wouldn't go see the doctor about!
I'd recommend it esp if it's free. I think the value is about £500

I think if you paid for this yourself, it would be in the region of £100-200. I'd have it done.

It's free, do it.

It might just pick up the early signs of something serious. It's worth being patronised about cutting down on junk food/alcohol/smoking/fizzy drinks etc.

I had to have a health check before I got my residence permit here, but I can testify that it's rubbish, because I know I'm not quite right, it just didn't show up on any of their tests. Still, got me my card. I hate visiting doctors and hospitals, so I tend to just pretend everything is fine, but I'd take a full (proper) health check tomorrow if I was offered one for free.
