Hi all,

My lil' cousin turns 17 the end of this month (they grow up so fast!), I'm looking to buy him a nice small car which is safe and cheap for him to run but still has that teenage boy likeability if you know what I mean.

It's a surprise so I can't really ask him directly, all I can find are Lupo's and Yaris VVti, any other suggestions of what to look for?

Looking at 1-2g purchase price, or is this too low?

Cheers,
NVPizzle

Lolvo

Cheap to insure as it's unloved by anyone the low side of 50 and you. An get something safe with a bit of poke for not a lot of cash

Ive got a couple of Yaris's in the family and they are dull as hell. Personally I'd look at a Fiesta or something old and french like a 106. My boss raves about his daughters C1 and the KA before it, as great fun handling cars!

But imo, a MK1 Focus would be the best bet.

Cheers, will keep my eye out for some. Focus may be a little big.

He's not a lad, very far from it. Nervous little kid but a very nice polite boy.

I'll pay purchase and insurance and big bills until he settles into his job, he just has to put in petrol.

Edit: Are the mk4 fiestas safe? They're a 90's car in essence.

I'd totally recommend a Yaris, yes they aren't exactly the most interesting car - but in this sort of bracket you're not going to find anything particularly interesting!

I ran a 1.3 Yaris for quite a number of years as a daily and was the most reliable car Ive ever owned, good amount of space - can easily seat 4 average height guys with the rear seats pushed back. They are seriously cheap to buy as well :)

To be fair, they are reliable as hell, and well put together, but i wouldnt say they are all all that cheap for a small car.

LOL @ the smashed twingo!

You're right the Yaris is old too, but Toyota built so reliable and safe I'm hoping.

Focus are great maybe\slightly big for him at first plus the engines are too big for decent insurance.

Fiesta is looking ok, I loved my friends old rs back in the day!

***** is an Ignis?! lol suzuki ain't too shabby actually.

How are the Almeras?

Oh shame, pics make it look quite tiny.

Clio don't look too bad you know...

Hah Nah he's got my 325ci waiting there for him for a second car once he's got a few years experience and can afford to run it. My sister currently uses it but she's after an R8 now! Bloody surgeons!
