How should society deal with people who insist on testing Darwin's Law on survival of the fittest?

A speeding motorcyclist has had a lucky escape on one of Europe's most notoriously dangerous roads. He crashed on the A537 Cat and Fiddle road in Cheshire, after his motorbike crossed the unbroken double white line and he swerved to avoid an oncoming car. VIDEO

His bike has been written off and his Insurance company will probably refuse to pay out but what if any action should the Police take?
 
There's a possibility of dangerous driving. I would say that the riding is well below that of a safe an competent driver.
 
Used to travel that road whenever we visited my grandparents over in derbyshire - the bikers have been organ-donors-in-waiting for at least 40 years.

Hopefully they've improved the fencing - it used to be a nightmare with sheep wandering randomly across the road.

The lad screwed up badly and I think he learned his lesson. If he has to be punished I would suggest community service where he goes round schools and shows that video to 6th formers.
 
A guy at work showed me this video earlier. Absolutely appalling.

Why on Earth is he publishing a video which incriminates him as well?

Because he nearly nailed it into the front of an oncoming car? I for one would rather society afforded me some protection from the idiocy of others...
 
One of the issues is no front plate for bikers. They have SPECS set up on that road according to the article but that only deters cars and the bikers have nothing to fear with them.
 
It actually takes some guts though to do what he did and own up and say what he's done wrong to show just how lucky he was, but just how easy it can be to get yourself in difficulty!

The SPECs cameras on the cat and fiddle photograph both front and rear I think.

If you look on the video, you'll see the left hand camera is pointing forward, looking at the rear of vehicles going under it.
 
Bet hes glad he was wearing proper safety gear (not sure about the footwear a little hard to make out) that could have come off way worse.

Thats a bit stupid and sounds rather prejudice against bikers. All the bikers I know hold their hands up when its their fault and hopefully learn by it. Bikers usually blame the car drivers when it is the car drivers fault, i have quite a few mates with permanent injuries caused by cars just not looking and pulling out on them. I also know people who have been hurt on their bike and will tell anybody who asks it was their own fault and don't make any excuses.

If you watch the video he is admitting its his fault. The guy was riding badly/irresponsibly and paid the price im just glad he missed the car. I think it is good he is putting the video out for people to see hopefully it might make some inexperienced or irresponsible riders think twice about what they are doing.
