I've just made some harissa paste and I have about a pint of chilli infused water left over and I'm reluctant to throw it away. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can use it to make something tasty?

Marinade chicken in it? That would go nice with some pasta!

Make a brine using it, and do chilli-brined chicken :D

When I read snips86x's post above, that was the first idea that sprung to mind. Forecast for tomorrow is promising so I think I'll make a brine out of it and do a half chicken on the BBQ tomorrow.

it would be an awesome stock to add to chilli-con-carne and the like.

That sounds like a plan too but I still have 4 portions of chilli con carne in the freezer from the last batch I made so it'll be a while before I'm making again.

Unfortunately, it made no difference in flavour at all :(

After I'd brined it, the outer bits of flesh did show a noticeable orangey-brown tinge and I was hopeful some of the chilli flavour had penetrated the meat. Sadly, I couldn't discern any particular flavour apart from chicken. I deliberately BBQ'd it "virgin" (i.e. no sauce or rub) so as not to taint the result.

Pity, but never mind. It was still a tasty bit of chicken. After half a BBQ'd chicken, a couple of skewers of flame grilled veggies and a bottle of Sancerre, I am now a happy chappy

Off to chill with a movie and a family sized glass of Port Askaig 19yo.

Or, at least I will do in a minute as Dreadlock Holiday has just come on the radio so I'll move when that's finished.

Hindsight now but could have reduced it down to a sauce maybe

I thought about that as well but wasn't sure how it would turn out. I thought it might be a bit bitter. I

If I find myself in the same situation again, I might reduce half of it to see how it turns out and try to work out how to make something of it.

Here you go Stan, sorry if it's too late:

I made this recently and it was tasty, but unlike any other salsa I had made. I have all of these dried chillies required, and the water infusion is full of flavour.

I can't imagine you'd get much heat from chilli infused water as capsaicin is hydrophobic - you'd be better off trying to infuse it with a flavourless oil.

If you read my last post, you'll notice my liberal use of the word flavour and no mention of heat. It wasn't heat I was after, it was flavour.
