GTX 790 still happening?

Answer we don't know.

Last meeting we had with Nvidia they did not know either about it coming to market or when.

There is no NDA on the product so I would say its not coming.

That's disappointing :( The GPU market for Nv is stagnant. Nothing new....no maxwell. A 790 would bring a something new.... I don't see Nv having a good year. Maybe next year....unless prices come down more?

Well it's because 790 is kept secret... It will be released in coming weeks.

Did you guys really think that TITAN Z is actually 790? Even NVIDIA is not that crazy to launch $3k card for gamers.

I am pretty confident that when the 290x2 is launched, nVidia will pop in with a 790. It stands to reason that they would do this and probably undercut the 290x2 price as well.

Yet, they said it's for gamers...

Regardless of what they said. It's clearly a workstation card that is catering for gamers with deep pockets/more money than sense.
I wouldn't ever class the Titan Z as a gaming graphics card as a primarily.

I would be very surprised if they don't release a GTX 790. As Fruitbooter says, could just be waiting and drop it in later depending on how well the Titan Z and AMD cards sell.
Maybe they're testing the waters, "are those that buy multi GPU cards have the deepest pockets?".

Who knows, time will tell.

nVidia undercutting AMD?!..... Hahahaha!, that's a good one Greg :p

I agree however, they had the 780 out and at over £500 and as soon as the 290X was launched, they dropped the price to under the 290X. I am confident that they will drop a 790 when the 290x2 is out and slightly cheaper.

Difference is, they had to drop the price of the 780, because it's inferior to the 290X and they'd had their time at the top getting away with the top-card inflation.

I doubt they'd be able to compete with AMD on a dual GPU card where cost is concerned.

Yer, you could be right Rossi and time will tell. I like my theory better though and yours is so last year :p
