Well, this post groups all criminals in the same bracket so...

Yeah that one does, and the post you quoted was pointing out a scenario where that would be stupid. So they obviously could see the difference as well, unless you were agreeing with it.

It can be hard to tell through text sometimes.

Yeah that pretty much sums up all your arguments in this thread.
But I am a Unicorn which makes me right.

So if you were to end up in jail for something minor, like not paying the TV licence, it's okay if you get killed in there?

Not paying your TV license is a serious offence I'll have you know, It could never & should never be describe as minor. I am disappoint. :(

A man serving a prison sentence was attacked in a West Yorkshire prison. MoJ lawyers admitted liability at Durham County Court on Wednesday. Levi Bellfield was awarded £4,500 by a judge.

But :) lets :p get :D macho :) on ;) the :o keyboard  and  declare  prison  abuse :( to :) be :p right  and  proper

Pity he wasn't killed. It's about time they lose all their rights when they enter jail.

Every one thinks this till you end up getting put in jail for something dumb and very trivial, yes what some people do is crazy but there still human being's and should be treated just the same as you would like to be treated.

A person should not be attacked in prison as this demonstrates the inability of the prison to enforce order.

What should happen is that someone should be disciplined for allowing this to occur, if nobody can be blamed then changes should be made to prevent this from reoccurring, not specifically to him, but to all inmates.

It's easy to see that you've never been in or experienced prison life. What you're proposing is impossible.

Read the whole thread then come back ;)

Having read this thread it's clear that there are two lines of thought when considering this pay out. Morality and the law.

From a moral standpoint, I would want to see the money go to Milly Dowler's family and the other victims families.

From a legal standpoint, Levi Bellfield is entitled to the money.

If people aren't happy with Levi Bellfield getting this money, then maybe a petition at Change.org would be a route forward in getting the law changed.

I agree with the person you quoted.

Rapists, kiddy fiddlers and murders do not deserve life. Someone who gets done for tax fraud...meh

You can't have laws like this that waived because you don't like what the person has done. The laws have to apply to everyone or no one.

Law shouldn't apply to those that has a flagrant disregard for it...ie murders, kiddy fiddlers and rapists.

Line them up and shoot them. Why should anyone pay to keep these ***** in prison?

Laws are not made by people by having emotional reactions, and nor should they. Emotions have no place in law making.

So I say again, laws have to apply to no one, or everyone. It is a caveat of the system we use and are used to, but it's the way it is.

Regardless of the punishment these kinds of 'beings' are just not wired right and no end of gruesome threats would deter them from what they eventually do.

He sued the system, he probably could not claim criminal injuries compensation because he is barred from doing so in certain circumstances Link.

The legislation that allows him to sue should be governed in the same way the criminal injuries compensation system is where any claim is reduced by a factor of 1-10 depending on whatever crime the claimant has been convicted of.
