Georgia lets black guys go to a prom with white girls....

Why are American black chicks so damn heavy?

Culture or genes?

Having said that there's a lots of whales out there regardless of colour...

They deep fry everything.

The Southerners I mean not just african americans

I went into a bar in Georgia almost 10 years ago. A square bar, sat down at the bar to order food and out the corner of my eye I could see this huge, american football huge black guy just staring at me from about 4 feet away.

As I was about to order something to eat the bartender said "You are sitting on the wrong side, please move over there". When I moved he explained I'd sat in the black half and didn't I realise I was the only white guy on that side. I was just so un-used to that sort of segregation. They even had two jukeboxes.

It was a strange place, loads of women like the black woman in tom and jerry cartoons :D

It was still very racist, the instructor at the school I was in used the line "I'm sweating like a ****** on a rape charge". Sadly some places there are still 50 years behind.

It really is surreal, almost unbelievable!

I don't usually frequent this part of the forum and I stay away from subjects like this but I feel the need to say the sad thing is it isn't just the south either. I spent some time in Princeton New Jersey home to the famous university. I was in a bar talking to two girls one night, one white and one black. I was told by the white one that "white guys don't usually talk to black girls" but then she added "I should have known you would be different because your friend is Mexican." I told her you talk to her so why shouldn't I to which she replied "many white guys won't talk to me because she is my friend." I have been to Alabama and Georgia and Texas and seen the racism there but I was shocked to see it in Princeton.

Georgia is a great place and dame fine food. Just don't say Jesus wept or similar or they will string you up :)

The USA is always demonising countries like Russia for their backwards laws and yet parts of the American south are as backwards as places get, you don't hear the media criticising them though.

Nope, just praising them for finally changing when they should be receiving the harsh criticism they deserve.

In other news Saudi Arabia.......

Yup - I'd view the evangelical creationist types in the deep south who seem to oppose gay marriage, mixing of races etc.. as the western equivalent of Islamists. That may well be part of the issue, following distorted religious beliefs and trying to cling on to tradition even when the tradition, as far as the rest of the world is concerned, is pretty damn backwards... Whether that's not mixing races and opposing 'the gays' or not letting women drive and forcing them to cover up etc...

Yeah no racism in the USA. Hey lets do a big show with loads of people, but the only music we will play will be white peoples music, you know stuff written by white people, nothing by black, Asians or any other coloured people just whites. Oh hold on just a minute...

I've had a the pleasure of going to a place 100 miles west of Wilcox county a few times.....bible belt America, a truly unlovely place with churches and drive through fast food places seemingly every 100 meters....

Here we go the weekly USA bashing thread ;)

Racisms an odd thing. Its half the fault of the racist people but also half the fault of those who go shouting about people being racist.

My son, who was 4 at the time, has a mixed race friend who's skin is brown. His friend group used to call him darkie, that was his nick name and the kid didn't mind at all, infact it made him feel 'unique'.

As soon as I found out my son was calling this other kid 'darkie' I instantly told him to stop it, in fear that something would come of it. My son saw nothing wrong with it and asked why he had to stop. So then I had to tell him all about why its wrong. Now my son knows about racism. I cant help but feel if people just shut up and got on with life racism would die out. People are not born racist, some don't even have racist people in their family's, they are spoon fed it by those trying to 'get rid of it'.

Of course, the real Ironing here is that if anybody is actually going to get their knickers in a twist over this, the chances are it will be the Blacktivists!!

I thought the medieval days were over.....

There was relatively little racism for most of the medieval period. The concept of race is a relatively new thing.

For example, it's known that some number of people who would nowadays be called "black" emigrated from northern Africa to England in the medieval period. It's not known how many because extant records didn't record it. It wasn't considered to be of any importance. Foreigners were foreigners. It was only towards the very end of the medieval period that it started to become an issue, apparently because of the scale of immigration.

Went to school with a black kid whose surname was White. So he was called Whitey.
