Hello oc uk forum folk.

I'm a bit stumped attempting to finish the spec on my new build and was just wanting a push in the right direction...

Current purchased items:-
Intel i5 4670K
Asus GTX 770 2gb
Corsair 600M power supply
Corsair carbide 200R case
120GB Samsung EVO SSD
1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD
Samsung 24x DVD writer
TP-Link TL-WDN4800 450Mbps Wireless N Dual Band PCI Express x1 Network Adapter

So that's it so far. Saying as it's my first build I'm a bit confused onto what motherboard I want. And also I am wanting to purchase a better CPU cooler. Preferably the easier to install the better.

Unsure on what RAM to get also. Was thinking about getting the 2x4gb 2133 ripjaws. Any experience with this RAM?

Another thing I'm wondering is whether or not I'll need to purchase extra case fans? Could someone clarify this.

This computer will be for gaming. I'm not interested in SLI. Just want it to run fast/smooth and run latest games.

If I've left anything else out please let me know.

Thanks for your time
Regards
Andy

TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) -£49.99 inc VAT
Raijintek EreBoss High Performance CPU Cooler - £29.99 inc VAT

If you can push that little extra.. 1600mhz will be enough for gaming etc.

Applications such as photoshop, CAD etc will make use of the 1600mhz+ RAM.

The cooler above is much better imho.

From what I remember higher RAM speeds help with minimum fps on Haswell. Also no chance of fitting the Ereboss in a 200R, it 'should' fit by the spec but the Ereboss is actually more than 160mm iirc.

Anyways this would be my choice:

Bit of a colour mishmash but good parts for the price!

The Gigabyte Sniper if you want a budget gaming board, or you could go for the UD4H board as it comes with a free cooler.

The 200R doesn't have a window so no need for colour coordination :D

I have bought the MSI Z87-G45 as it really looks impressive. Now just for the ram.

Was thinking about getting an arctic freezer cooler, as I'm not looking to majorly overclock, just want something better than the intel heatsink.

The ram I'm probably going to go for the teamgroup vulcan orange.

Will I need to purchase extra case fans?

I recommend the mobo and memory as I bought them this week. I went for a Corsair H100i for cooling so can't really recommend a cooler from experience but this one looks good though £30...

Sniper + Freezer + Whatever 2133 ram kit, would be my choice.... audio on the Sniper is top notch(sounds awesome with a decent headset).

I would go with the Raijintek Themis Direct Contact CPU Cooler, already recommended by Lee32uk. Not bulky and is better than the stock cooler, will also allow a decent OC.

If you game online I'd look at the new Asus wireless ac network cards. You need an ac capable router too but the performance increase from wireless n is significant!

This router: http://www.asus.com/uk/Networking/RTAC66U/

This card: http://www.asus.com/Networking/PCEAC56/

Sadly ocuk doesn't have them but those two together are a massive improvement over wireless n. Alternatively have you considered homeplugs?

Is water cooling better and easy to set up?

Water cooling is better for lower temperatures and overclocking. However if you aren't planning on pushing your CPU clocks then its definitely not required.

Custom loops are not easy to set up however the All-In-One loops like the Corsair Hxx and NZXT Kraken range are simple to set up and great bang per buck.
