EE 2G/3G/4G Discussion Thread

I typically use 15-18GB a month but then I travel a lot with work and its my access to everything while away from home.

Anyone else having difficulty topping up their EE mobile broadband account? I'm trying to buy a data on for my ipad but i keep getting an error

I'm on Full Monty tariff and am capped at 4Mb/s down and 1Mb/s up. Ridiculous of course and T-Mobile were hiding this fact (i.e. refused to admit they were doing it) when I bought it.

Coverage is good but very unstable, with signal strength fluctuating a lot even if you stay still and leave the phone on a table. This instability can result in the odd complete disconnection.

Will be leaving for Vodafone/O2 when the contract ends this year. Will consider Three if they solve their major congestion issues.

Maybe as they offer unlimited tariffs and are the value end of the EE spectrum of companies?

This was happening long before EE as consumer facing brand even existed.

Sounds more like a phone issue than a network issue. What phone are you using?

You'll get worse speeds on O2/Vodafone than you currently do on T-Mobile. They both have the worst 3G networks in the UK by far, both in terms of speed and coverage.

Three is probably your best option so I will recommend those for you. Their coverage is nearly identical to EE's (as they both use MBNL - a few Orange-only masts haven't been integrated into MBNL yet, but will be soon), but they don't have 2G, so their network is less robust than EE's (you'll find in some places you'll get no signal on Three but will get 2G on EE/T-Mobile/Orange).

Phone is Nexus 5 right now but the same thing happened with my last phone.

Vodafone speeds are very good from what I've seen.

O2 and Vodafone customer service also is way above EE. I could give many very widespread examples as well as personal ones where EE have failed.

I had to for example follow the complete written complaints process and threaten legal action before I could get an £100 billing error corrected. Everyone I spoke with in CS on the phone could see the error but were powerless to do anything and tbh didn't even care. They "escalate" it and promise phone calls which don't happen.

They're only good on 4G. Their average 3G speeds are dire.

I have tested Vodafone 3G speeds throughout London. They are excellent.

T-Mobile is 4Mb/s everywhere. Three vary a lot. Can be excellent but also abysmal in residential areas.
