Both the artistic and technical direction in Mario Kart 8 is amazing, really is a beautiful looking game.

No detailed info on the online yet afaik, but I think it's safe to expect both regional and worldwide matchmaking. They have mentioned they are taking online play more seriously too so I think we can expect an evolution from MK Wii's online in some form.

So far all I can recall reading about the online in 8 is:
  • Up to 12 Players
  • Leaderboards (for time trial I guess, but maybe players online play seed rank thing too)
  • "Mario Kart TV" - share moments (videos) with friends on miiverse

Game of the year or not, I've caved and got a wii u ready for this. I was soooo weak on this one. Plus I wanted to play Donkey Kong and get my kids into the world of Nintendo - all kids need Mario right? right? lol
 
I think its time I sold my xbox one and got a wii u :), it's clear I've become a very casual gamer now, what with this, Mario U and Donkey Kong it's too tempting.

I have a ps4, and its excellent, very good, excellent performance IMO but I too looked at Wii u, and donkey kong is more fun then infamous second son in a strange way.. wii u to me is a great companion to my ps4. Wii u seems to be getting quite some stick which I feel is a little unjust.

£239 I got a premium console in black, with a tablet type controller , sensor bar, hdmi cable, charging cradle for the controller and a vertical stand for the console.. plus two mario games, now that wasn't too bad value , and it plays YouTube videos , netflix and lovefilm and you don't need to pay for any online services...

it's never going to give ps4 visuals, but hey the games are fun, my little girl loved the Wii u.

would keep your x1 and maybe look into a Wii u ??
 
Am tempted to get a 3DS with MK7 pre-installed for £159.

Are there any disadvantages to getting the pre-installed version?

Is there a way to play a 3DS through a monitor or TV easily?

I reckon that's definitely not possible! I'd imagine the res is pretty small on a 3ds.

Worth having a 3ds anyway, there great!
 
so how the heck do I buy and play Mario kart 64 on a Wii u? Says I need a classic controller, whatever that is, and coins , where do I get the coins, this is confusing ...
 
I have mk64 on my Wiii U , I transfered it over from my wii along with all my other wii virtual console games.
N64 games are not out yet on Wii U virtual console.To play it now you need to purchase it in the Wii mode eshop

I don't have a wii, only a Wii u so that means I can't pkay mk 64 then? Well that won't get my Mario kart fix out the way until 30th may lol oh well.. : -(
