I can't work out whether the centre console looks more like a lady Transformer's chuff or more like a late nineties midi system and needs a Kenwood badge stuck on it.

There was one of these at work the other day, I was so confused.

But I never even noticed it had one rear door! What the, why? Has anyone else done this?

Bit embarrassing when you get overtaken by diesel rep mobiles.

Why? I regularly get overtaken by diesel rep mobiles when I'm doing 85+ mph, and I can't believe it would suddenly become embarrassing if I was driving one of these.

It's a great looking car IMO, and whilst not up there with modern hot hatches it's not exactly slow.

We have the standard 1.6 and I think it's pretty good and don't regret buying it.

Excellent standard spec, reverse camera, sensors, cruise, full media system, engine is pretty good, handling is average, there is lots of grip but feel isn't the best.

I can't see how the turbo versions are described as slow, with 183bhp and 195lb. That's pretty good for the segment it's in with things like the mini and Citroen ds3,

Nothing has fallen off ours, build quality seems good, doors have a solid feel. Miles miles better than the DS3 we rented in the UK once which felt like a cheap tin can.

As I referred to higher up - the Mini estate has this, but their rear door is on the wrong (road) side in the UK because it was too expensive to change the design of the fuel filler system which is where the door would be otherwise.

Friend at work has the standard 1.6, I was surprised massively by it. OK its not quick by any means, but its an interesting car. The inside is really nice - Hyundai have really got it right inside IMO, well specced, nice and light and feels huge compared with how it looks outside.

Shame they don't have some more interesting engines to-go with it. :(

Is it longed geared or mega short or some quirk relating to 0-60 as its a second longer to sixty than even my MINI Countryman Cooper S with similar output figures.

I've wondered that for a while too, doesn't seem to be any real answers to it either. Like you say I assume it's got a tall gearing setup, from what i've read the turbo doesn't come in until about 4k which won't really help it either.

I quite like the look of them, very nice outside, acceptable inside though it's too busy for me on the dash. The biggest problem outside of slightly odd performance figures I think it has is the Cee'd with the same engine -which for reasons unknown to me I would much prefer.

The place i bought my new (to me) car from was a Hyundai dealer so they had a few sitting about but they'd been wrapped in a matt effect finish - done the car no favours

Only if you are dumb enough to care about such things. Black seats look much better than red imho. Lot of money for a Korean Hatchback, but I kinda like them. Probably a good second hand bet.
