I got my ASUS 780 Ti DCU II OC yesterday and although a bit disappointed in the overclocking I'm very happy with the cooler. I've been testing the card since this morning and noticed this:

I would have assumed the card would shutdown 20C before this, so is this just a bug in GPU-Z or is my card on fire?

Seems like a GPU-Z bug, 144c would probably burn them through the card.

Something like 110c is the absolute max.. I THINK.

Yeah I'm thinking it's probably a bug with the max temp. Though it seems to consistently hit around 90C on the graph, which still seems very hot.

Sorry for bumping, but I thought I'd give a quick update.
As everything is warming up now here I decided to check my VRM temps once again, and it's kinda scary

My VRM temperature levelled out at about 111C after 45 minutes under load, and peaked at 112C.

This doesn't give me much confidence honestly.

Matew I have had digital thermometer probe on mine hit 85C with VGPU 1.6+ V. I am sure your VRM is not at those temps. Around 100 would start to warp the PCB.

Have you checked the mounting of the VRM heatsink?? Maybe its slightly off or not contacting correctly?? Although I do think its a software bug. I can test mine with GPUZ when I get into work for ya.

Cheers 8 Pack, would appreciate it. I'm getting the same temps on Hwinfo64 too.

I haven't checked the mounting though I may have to.

I was thinking it could possibly be effecting my overclocking. I can't even get to 1200Mhz without artifacting.

EDIT: Here on Guru3D's review the VRM hits 98.5C at stock.

temps in the past on GPU VRMs have got up to 120-140C - so its certainly not impossible

and if just the internal chip temp wouldn't necessarily cause any due harm to PCB

but it certainly doesn't sound right - maybe heatsink isn't making contact ?

that Guru3d review you linked to - thats measuring the external/case temp around the VRM ?

if so - the VRM itself would be a lot hotter than that internally

^Yeah I remember the VRM temp on my 6990 hitting 120C in Kombustor when I had an aftermarket cooler on it. I turned it off pretty quick.

Oh my I just read this and I have purchased the card off you. Did you manage to sort this out? If not maybe I should do a RMA on it.

It's just a bug in the software I think like 8 Pack said. I noticed it spikes to random high numbers for no reason, sometimes over 400C lol

Well if it is a bug as 8pack said then I am cool with that. Was just a little worried that's all thinking you had sold me a buggered up card. Anyway thanks for clearing it up.
I won't be overclocking the card and will just leave it running stock speeds anyway.

what makes you think its a bug in the software ?

are you seeing it spike to over 200C MrZippo ?

there must be another owner of this exact card to confirm if they get similar VRM temp "bugs" in the software ?

I will get the card on Monday and see if I have the same problem.
Is there anyone on here with the same card and has the same problem?
