They don't just stand perfectly still....

He is black.

A white, ginger haired peep would have bee arrested and should have for doing all that to police then guard.

Some peeps here talk a lot of crap, behave respectfully and you are not bothered.

No wonder this country is a mess.

Being ginger is a disability, they wouldn't have been arrested.

Fairplay to the Guard at the end of the day the Palace and grounds are a high security area for a reason and if anyone was to start kicking off being agressive etc.. the Guard is well within his right to approach and take whatever action he feels necessary to calm the situation even if it means drawing his weapon he would've given a warning shout 1st s this is what they do at Windsor Castle if you step over the white line you ignore the order you will have a weapon raised at you.

P.S. Op They also do the changing of the Guard you know

LOL, even today they do not get much stick, my m8's daughter is a ginger and very popular, back in my day at school they got slated (cannot say s-l-a-g-g-e-d here)?

Same with glasses or braces on teeth etc.

That's a bit pointless seeming that they don't usually have any ammo right?

I just texted my brother;

"Do palace guards carry live ammunition?"
"No"
"You never had to then?"
"Not in my day doing ceremonials".

When did he do it is the question? If we're talking 80's to 90's then that is obviously a very different case to post 9/11. That said, I don't imagine they have live rounds. I recall my ammo pouch had a mars-bar in it when I was on guard duty once and when I challenged someone trying to come in the gate, the duty Sergeant told me to 'stop messing about'.

The soldier should and may loose his job. It's one thing going over there and telling him to please calm down another to point a bayonet and threaten and be completely unprofessional. Palace Gaurds are absolutely useless, I have a fair amount of knowledge (I'd like to say so) on the Met Police and royalty protection who are together with SEG are usually armed especially at the palace. They will have MP5's or G36's with the standard Glock. Not forgetting the Queen etc. will also have plain clothed RP officers by her side at all times both armed probably with a hidden glock.

Please read the above procedure whilst at post he was probably talked down from "Detaining him" by the police but he'd already got to the "Port Arms" part of procedure Guard has done nothing wrong.

In the 80s and 90s. Before the IRA ceasefire. Even then they didn't use live ammo. It's always been police do security and have the live ammo at buck house and other royal places.

He did say that one idiot in his regiment managed to hit the emergency button in his post box by mistake (or possibly intentionally just to see what would happen). There were police swarming from everywhere with seconds. Parks police, transport police, and MET police. The poor sod got into deep crap for that.

This, everyone seems to be jumping to conclusions, but this, in my opinion, seems most likely. Guess we might find out in the coming days.

@ Hyburnate, Learn how to put together a post in a half decent manner if you even want to be taken seriously.

Guard did nothing wrong, you are a tool to want him to loose his job.

Shock horror as palace guard defends palace! SACK HIM!

Sorry, I was eating at the time :p

So from one tool to another, the police had it handled and the soldier caused more harm then good, the soldier did nothing but get in the way. There are several lines of defense against the building and the Queen and the guys on the gates are the first, he did not need to intervene.

He won't lose his job, however my brother was saying he will probably get a *******ing for it. He said, if the police were dealing with it, he should have let them deal with it. But he went out of his way to walk nearly 50 yards to involve himself in the confrontation. It would have been a different matter if the fella had been in the guardsmans face by his posting. Then he could have done the whole stampy feet and pointy spike bit. But as someone mentioned earlier in the thread, they're probably a bit more jumpy because of the Rigby killing.

Standing there having a ****ing match with the bloke for 5 minutes doesn't really make it sound like the police had it handled all that well to be honest.
