Hello, some might remember my thread from nearly 3 months ago... I sent my PSU for RMA and it took them 3 months to send it back, got the courier today and guess what? He said that because the item came back from US (Apparently their RMA base is in Netherlands) and said because of the vat, tax etc I'll have to pay 35 pounds. The courier was kind enough to give me a day to sort this out, they take ages to reply (7-14 days) and I'm confused if I should pay or just refuse as the final cost will be what I actually paid for the PSU.

Any ideas/advice will be appreciated! :)

You shouldn't have to pay tax on replacements if they've marked it up correctly on the declaration IIRC.

The PSU was bought in the UK (Overclockers UK), I was also told that the package will be sent to their RMA base (based in Netherlands). I haven't been informed about this whole thing with extra paying or that the replacement will actually comeback from the U.S.

Its a replacement for a part you've already paid tax on, someone cocked up the customs declaration!

I've sent an email now, but it will take probably 10 days (that's how long it usually takes them)... Should they also refund me for sending the faulty item for RMA, as its been accepted as faulty? But I'm not paying 35 pounds, maybe I'll get an reply tomorrow.

Edit:

By they way, thanks for the interest and help :)

The only way you'll get the PSU back is to pay the money and then try and claim it back off them.

If, I knew there will be so much hassle, I would have fixed it myself and save over 70 pounds (new psu and courier costs, not counting 35).

I'm impressed how quickly they replied, but the context isn't what I wanted to hear...
