However, it is a killer for RAM which has been a major issue for touchwiz for a long time. Free RAM is typically cached anyway but Samsung has somehow taken up most of the memory. I grossly compared the HTC One M8, S5 and the Moto X in terms of free ram in the application manager (after swiping away all the background apps):

1. Moto X had about 1.5gb free
2. HTC one M8 had about 1.1 Gb free
3. Galaxy S5 had about 700mb free.

Most of the RAM was taken up by Samsung apps which seems to get priority over the apps the user is using for some reason.

a lot of the Samsung apps can be disabled in the app manager.

Either way my next phone must have 3GB+ RAM.

Imo ram is the most important out of cpu/gpu/ram. All my issues with my current phone are due to filling up the medicore amount of ram

S5 likely has a super responsive screen following on with the improvements samsung made with the Note 3, and the S801 is super over power for 99% of what we do on phones these days. M8 currently has the most responsive screen but will be interesting to see what the S5 scores.

no Moto X - now that display was responsive. It's all much of muchness though for anything quicker, unless you get under 20ms.

Got £600 winnings from a £5 bet waiting to treat myself on something.

Must not fall into temptation, I've got a Note 3 I don't need an S5, I don't need an S5, I'm tempted to get an S5 :(

I hope the few people here buying this are in a minority so that samsung get the idea and produce a better looking phone. Be nice if HTC and Sony take a chunk of their market to whip them into shape and give HTC and Sony more room to play with.

Well its all a move in the right direction but you would need 1ms delay for the perfect display. Not too long ago 100-150ms was standard amongst most android devices.

Never used a Moto X so I can't comment on that.

jst went to from a s3 to s4then to htc m8,the build quality is like nothing ive seen before, but what killed it for me was that thay moved the bottom buttons back/ect onto the screen, also has this big black htcd black screen undearth, with me sitting comparing the 2 of them side by side the htc colours looked washed out compared against the s4,which is to be inspected, but to much of a difrence for me ,its like looking at hd v sd didnt like the way the icons scrolled down instead of side t0 side like trhe s4,look im no samaumg fanboy, this my honest thought while havings both side by side, plus the big thing for me is u cant change the battery and its extremley hard to do as the battery is under the motherboeard with all types of glue aswell, you it would cost u £50 to have the battery replaced, tbut defo the best lokking and powerfull ive seen, shame i had to put it on gumtree ias i really wantrd to like as i jst didnt fell like i upgraded from s3 to s4,sure the texts are saharper and colour is better, reaally confused, and honestly i think the s5 is horrible looking, have a m8 in 1 hand and a s5/s4 in the othe and youl instanstly know wit i mean, also i had to cmpare the 2 side by side s4/m8 and although the m8 is about a inch longer the actual screen to me felt shorter as i felk like the status bar at top is way to big/long taking uo to much screen and then u have a 1 inch black screen appear for the bck buttons at that bottom which to me makes its feel like the same as the s3,u would need to hold one to see what i mean/hopefully custom fw will fix it

Looks like you've become accustomed to OLED colours of Samsung :P. Also I will only consider a HTC device again the day they start making flagship models with a removable battery & SD card slot. One down one to go :P
