Ahh yes, so we should only be made aware or someones death when they have the potential to "cure cancer", or are considered "decent, kind and caring" people. Another classic. :D

That's not what I said though, is it? Can you provide a reason why the public should be so interested in her death other than:

She was famous to an extent, was in the public eye

I guess you read all the celeb mags too? :D

She was in the public eye, the public (not all of them obviously) are interested in her. Hence she is newsworthy to them. I can't believe I'm having to explain the news.

Lol, well thanks for stating the obvious but you're missing my point. The only reason she was in the public eye was because of our pathetic celebrity culture, she hadn't done anything particuarly worthy of being so famous and there's really no logical reason why her death should get so much attention over others (other than celebrity culture).

So as you said yourself people are interested in her....it's as simple as that.

When a news story comes up about Apple I don't rage and complain that they aren't talking about some small tech company I'm interested in. Not everything has to be interesting to you.

I didn't say it had to be? I know people are interested in her, doesn't mean I can't think it's illogical does it?

And I'm hardly raging or complaining - as I said, if people here were fond of and interested in Peaches, fair enough.

Edit: it's funny you mention Apple as this is a bit like the reverence the public used to have (and still does to an extent) for their products, imo... You may have intended that, not sure.

This. I lost a close friend a few days ago and that isn't headline news, so why should I care for someone I don't know?

I find it interesting when people purposefully go into a thread to post how not interested they are in a particular topic. If you're really not interested, why post?

To express my opinion, which happens to be different to most, that's all. I have as much right to post as anyone else in this thread.

Why would a proportion of the public theoretically be interested in the death of the daughter of a world-famous celebrity musician, who was herself a television figure in the UK? Hmm, let me think about that one, genius...

I guess you read all the celeb mags too? :D

No, I'm just intelligent enough to be able to provide logical, rational and objective explanations for things, even if it doesn't fit my personal viewpoint. Clearly, you and many others aren't.

You don't think there are people who have done more for humanity and deserve more recognition than be born into a certain family and appear on TV whose deaths go completely ignored? Care to explain the logic there?

Except it's not very logical unless you accept celebrity culture as logical, which it isn't.

In fairness, i know where you're coming from Burnsy. However, these people ARE interested, just negatively. Just because they disagree or are disgruntled with something, doesn't mean they aren't interested. They're voicing their opinions just as everyone else is entitled to.

However, a lot of these people are voicing said negative opinions in a very distasteful way. You may not agree/like what others are saying and are upset/annoyed by the media surrounding her death. But that doesn't mean you should be so disrespectful. At the end of the day, someone died and the death of any being is tragic (in a sense).
You don't have to mourn for this one, but you could at least show a shred of respect.

Honestly, does anyone here really care?

We're only talking about her because we're bored and the media fed us the story of her family.

"Does anyone actually care"

Yes. Probably becuase she had kids and a husband and was very young and in the public eye.

What do you expect, for it not to be reported?

Have you de humanised celebrities to the extent that you "don't care" taht a 25 year old mother of two has died?
That an interesting notion isn't it...

Most of britain need a kick up the *** in my view..

Perhaps they'd like everyone to know how UNevolved, cold hearted and primitive they are, like it's something to be proud of
