I just sat in a 14 reg Mondeo to see what it was like.
One thing that struck me was the electric window switches being badly obscured by the interior door handle.
I guess it's supposed to be like that, but how can the driver comfortably operate any of the window buttons? Especially the rear windows. I wondered if I was meant to poke my finger through the door handle to get to those!

Doesn't it have climate control? You don't need to ever open the windows if so (inc if upside down on fire).

Wow. I just looked the interior pictures up on google to see if you were exaggerating. You weren't. That looks weird as ****.

Are they not in the same place as this autoexpress article shows on the left? http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/ford/mondeo/63666/new-ford-mondeo-2014-pictures/page/8/0

The old model had them there too?

This is the one I was looking at which seems to fit what the OP was describing.

Don't think it'd bother me. I'd much rather have a comfortable armrest than being able to open all of the windows with just a small movement of my index finger. How often do you open the windows any way?

This has reminded me of the time when I had a Citroen DS5 as a courtesy car for a few days. I just could not figure out the 4 stalks. All of their labels were obscured completely by the steering wheel which had little to no buttons on it. Nothing about the controls felt natural or logical. You even had to choose between being able to use the centre arm rest and the handbrake.

Not had any issue in mine, but agree with others the pics do make it look odd :p

I think the MK5 Mondeo should be out later this year.

mk5 is due q2 this year not sure on the estate though which is what i'm waiting on :)

currently got a mk4.5 Mondeo and the windows switches are in a weird place, more like a design afterthought than anything else.

once your used to it though you don't think about it, although now its in my head i'm going to curse ford everytime I put a window up or down

Owned a Mk4 for three and half years, never had any issue with the window switches, the RSI or arthritis, god knows how a car can give you that. Ford have reputedly always had the best driving positions for years....
